The plutonium files

The Plutonium Files
The Plutonium Files: America's Secret Medical Experiments in the Cold War is a 1999 book by Eileen Welsome. It is a history of US government-engineered radiation experiments on unwitting Americans, based on the Pulitzer Prize--winning series Welsome wrote for the Albuquerque Tribune. The purpose of the experiments was to assess the effect of radioactivity on the human body. For example, between April 1945 and July 1947, 18 people were injected with plutonium by doctors associated with the Manhattan Project. None of these men, women, and children were told what was being done, and none gave informed consent. Most of the subjects, Welsome writes, "were the poor, the powerless, and the sick -- the very people who count most on the government to protect them".

Declassified: human experimentation (1/5)

Declassified: Human Experimentation (1/5)
From the end of WWII through the Cold War, the US government performed military experiments on hundreds of thousands of unwitting Americans across the country. This startling program probes long-hidden government files to reveal how, for three decades, an untold number of civilians and military personnel became human guinea pigs. Discover how, as part of the infamous Manhattan Project, scientists injected plutonium into patients in a hospital in New York. Learn how thousands of military personnel were involved in the government's testing of hydrogen and atomic bombs in the Nevada desert from 1951 to 1963, and meet former students of a Minnesota school where children unknowingly participated in secret tests in the early 50's.

British Scientist Christopher Busby The Health Effects of Ionizing Radiation - Alex Jones Chernobyl Sarcophagus "The next Chernobyl will be Chernobyl itself" (Russian Scientist Professor Chernosenko) We aren't finished with Chernobyl. The scientists admit that the sarcophagus which encases the damaged nuclear reactor is now cracking open and leaking out lethal doses of radiation. In 1988 Soviet scientists announced that the sarcophagus was only designed for a lifetime of 20 to 30 years. Holes and fissures in the structure now cover 100 square metres, some of which are large enough to drive a car through. These cracks and holes are further exacerbated by the intense heat inside the reactor, which is still over 200 degrees Celsius. The sarcophagus's hastily and poorly built concrete walls, which are steadily sinking, act as a lid on the grave of the shattered reactor. Only 3% of the original nuclear material was expelled in 1986, leaving behind 216 tons of uranium and plutonium still buried inside the exploded reactor, is a chilling reminder that the explosion was not the end, but rather the beginning. Scientists now agree that this sarcophagus will eventually collapse, and when it does there will be an even greater release of radioactivity than in the initial accident. Inside the Sarcophagus there are 740000 cubic metres of lethally contaminated debris inside the sarcophagus, which is ten times more than was previously thought. Berkeley Lab Historical Landmark Celebration Lectures 3 2000
The Lawrence Berkeley Lab Historical Landmark Celebration Lectures were in about 1999?, when there was to be an official recognition for the 14 element discoveries at the Berkeley Lab...which last I heard was held up after the #118 and #116 discovery retraction ( Victor Nunov was the 'foreigner' that made the mistake and his name is mroe recent UNVERIFIED discoveries what's up with that IUPAC? That made Berkeley look so bad and OUR scientists had NOTHING TO DO WITH IT!... So 12 elements and numerous isotopes were discoverd there so it willbe a national Science Landmark one of these days.... in 1997 IUPAC had just retracted the name for #105 Hahnium AGAINST Glenn Seaborg (and others) wishes (and would've declined the naming of Seaborgium to keep Hahnium (beautifully in line with Lawrencium, Rutherfordium then Hahnium and then Seaborgium.(at #106) and I made a personal promise to Glenn a year before his passing htat I would always print Hahnium on my periodic tables (It was Otto Hahn's Cornell talk that Glenn read as an undergrad (under GN LEWIS!!!) that got him interested in RadioChemistry and the rest is history! (And Otto gave Lise Meitner his mother's wedding ring to assure safe passage out of Germany so that BS that "He stole the Nobel Prize from Lise" or Never did give her credit is crap! Neils Bohr or Rutherford tried twice to ge the Nobel committe to give her the prize in Physics (and rightly so!) so Otto Hahn had no ill feelings toward her (and for htat matter a ...

Must see!! history of mind-control - chapter 2b - human radiation experiments

MUST SEE!! HISTORY OF MIND-CONTROL - Chapter 2B - Human Radiation Experiments
Since the discovery of ionizing radiation, a number of human radiation experiments have been performed to understand the effects of ionizing radiation and radioactive contamination on the human body, specifically with the element plutonium. Numerous human radiation experiments have been performed in the United States, many of which were funded by various US government agencies, such as the Department of Defense and the Atomic Energy Commission. Experiments included (amongst other things): injecting radioactive substances into babies and pregnant women[1] feeding radioactive material to mentally disabled children[1] releasing radioactive materials over US cities to simulate the effects of radioactive fallout[citation needed] exposing US soldiers and prisoners to high levels of radiation[1] irradiating the testicles of prisoners, which caused severe birth defects[1] illegally exhuming bodies from graveyards to test them for radiation (without the consent of the families of the deceased)[citation needed] On January 15, 1994, President Bill Clinton formed the Advisory Committee on Human Radiation Experiments (ACHRE), chaired by Ruth Faden of the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. The committee was created to investigate and report the use of human beings as test subjects in experiments involving the effects of ionizing radiation in federally funded research. The committee discovered the causes of the experiments, and reasons why the proper oversight did not exist ...

Declassified: human experimentation (5/5)

Declassified: Human Experimentation (5/5)

The japanese response to the fukushima nuclear crisis: forgetting the history of hiroshima

The Japanese response to the Fukushima nuclear crisis: Forgetting the history of Hiroshima
I am an American and have been living in Japan for 4 years. I care deeply about my adopted home and have nothing but sensitivity and respect for the hardships the Japanese have faced in the past and are facing now. Despite living here and learning so much about the Japanese, considering their history and their often seemingly cautious and conservative nature (particularly when it comes to matters of "safety"), I am having difficulty making sense of the nation's response to to the Fukushima nuclear crisis which was touched off by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami. While I acknowledge varying opinions and various opposing movements within Japan, in general it is still a group-oriented society which values uniformity and similar thinking. The country's population is 98% Japanese and the Japanese people often use phrases such as "we Japanese". Therefore I feel it is OK to refer to "the Japanese" as if they were a single group for the purpose of some discussions. This is more difficult to do with other countries which have more internal diversity. Notes: The world "nuclear" is an adjective, but is also informally used as a noun: dictionary.reference.com I use it as a blanket term to refer to nuclear weapons, energy, etc.

The area: a journey through the hanford nuclear reservation

The Area: A Journey through the Hanford Nuclear Reservation
A recent graduate from Utah State University (Cameron Salony) accepts a job with the Department of Energy at Hanford and soon finds that his new workplace is a former site of plutonium production during WWII and the Cold War, but today is part of the world‟s largest environmental cleanup. However, he soon realizes that the history runs even deeper at Hanford as he meets with members of local tribes whose ancestors inhabited the region thousands of years before settlers began moving into the area in the 1860s. Eventually the government would take the land from both the Native Americans and the settlers for war purposes in the 1940s. Today some of the best-educated scientists and engineers in the country are working together to clean up what remains after 45 years of plutonium production in an effort to restore the land. Join Cameron as he explores the history and issues of Hanford as he interviews local tribal members, a citizen advisory board member, former and current workers, Hanford management, regulators and more.

Fukushima a (TICKING TIME-BOMB) CNN- ☢They LIED to US☢ Fukushima Nuclear Crisis Worst industrial Catastrophe in world history 6/22/11 Article- inthearena.blogs.cnn.com ROMANS [CNN HOST]: Then Fukushima. The disaster that won't go away. Nobody is paying attention. But is the nuclear meltdown more dangerous than ever? [...] Michio Kaku on the biggest industrial catastrophe in history. [...] KAKU: In the last two weeks, everything we knew about that accident has been turned upside down. We were told three partial melt downs, don't worry about it. Now we know it was 100 percent core melt in all three reactors. Radiation minimal that was released. Now we know it was comparable to radiation at Chernobyl. [...] ROMANS: In your view, did they not know how bad it was or they knew and didn't tell [...] KAKU: [...] We knew it was much more severe than they were saying, because radiation was coming out left and right. So in other words, they lied to us. [...] ROMANS: [...] within hours not even a day, there were already statements from the company and International Atomic Energy Association saying there had been safe shut down of all reactors. [...] KAKU: [...] in New York City, you can actually see it in the milk. You can actually see it has iodine, 131, actually spiked a little bit in our milk in New York City, but it is very small. ROMANS: Just even hearing that, though, even hearing that you can detect it, that there's a catastrophe, worst industrial catastrophe in history, we ...

Fukushima - troubled history of nuclear japan (full)

Fukushima - Troubled History of Nuclear Japan (full)
Dr. Anthony J. Hall: From Hiroshima to Fukushima, 1945-2011 www.veteranstoday.com FANTASTIC ARTICLE ABOVE, a must read. One of the primary motivations for building nuclear power plants in the first place has been to produce the plutonium needed for the construction of nuclear weapons.xii This overlapping of functions continues yet. The tight integration of the business of designing and manufacturing nuclear devices as weapons of mass destruction and the business of using nuclear fuel to generate electricity for broad public consumption needs to be emphasized again and again.xiii To gain insights into the linkages between the building of nuclear power plants and the construction of nuclear weapons one need only consider the controversy attending relevant developments in Israel, India, Pakistan and North Korea. In 1945 at the dawning of the nuclear age none of these countries even existed except for India. At the time India was still a colony of Great Britain. The controversy currently swirling around Iran's nuclear program repeats in a new context the controversy surrounding earlier stages of the efforts to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons. From the USS Nautilus to "Atoms for Peace" excellent new source for Fukushima Updates fukushimaupdate.com *Note: Single radiation dose of 2000 millisieverts (200000 millirems) and above causes serious illness. History of aviation-wright bros. sr-71 f-22 stealth

History Of Aviation-Wright Bros. Sr-71 F-22 Stealth
From the Wright Brother's airplane to the stealth, these airplanes show the history of military aviation. This video shows a portion of a tour of the Wright Patterson AFB aircraft museum. This F-117 Stealth Fighter (Nighthawk) can seen from different angles. Its exhaust is well hidden. Although it uses the "F" designation, it is chiefly a ground-attack plane, which is also used as a bomber. Because the strength of a radar return is proportional to the edge configuration of an object, the plane has a boxy, aerodynamically unstable appearance. Its stealth technology also includes its surface coating. The SR-71, Blackbird, has a top speed of Mach 3.5 -- more than 3 times the speed of sound. Its actual top speed may be classified and some say it has flown at speeds up to Mach 14. It is 107 feet long with a maximum altitude of over 100000 feet and has stealth capabilities. Some think a replacement, the Aurora, is entering service. The SR-71 may still be the world's fastest airplane. Some may have been brought back into service. The T-38, Talon, is an advanced, twin engine, high-altitude, supersonic jet. The Northrop jet is the only supersonic trainer in the world, used by few countries, and was used with the SR-71. Versions are still in use. The B-2, stealth bomber is made by Northrop Grumman. This multi-role heavy bomber can deploy both nuclear and conventional weapons. Also shown is the ACTUAL Boeing B-29 Superfortress, Bockscar, which dropped the second atomic bomb ...

Kim's Nuclear Gamble Part 1 of 6 History, Sociopolitical, Technology Documentary narrated by Will Lyman and published by PBS broadcasted as part of PBS Frontline series in 2003 - English narration www.pbs.org www.pbs.org "Kim's Nuclear Gamble" traces the highs, lows, and crisis points during the past decade of US-North Korean relations, beginning with Pyongyang's announcement in 1994 that it planned to reprocess fuel from its nuclear reactor at Yongbyon -- a move that would have given North Korea enough plutonium to make five to six nuclear bombs. "We were willing to risk war," former US Secretary of Defense William Perry tells FRONTLINE. "We seriously considered solving the problem directly by simply striking the reactor and processor at Yongbyon." Following the intervention of former President Jimmy Carter, however, negotiations resumed and ultimately resulted in a deal that became known as the Agreed Framework. North Korea pledged to shut down its nuclear reactor, and in return, the United States promised to pay for and deliver 500000 metric tons of heavy fuel oil each year until the construction of two light-water reactors -- designed to make proliferation more difficult -- was complete. However, former US officials concede that while North Korea fulfilled its promise to properly shut down the reactor, the United States showed less enthusiasm for fulfilling its half of the agreement. Late shipments of the promised oil and slow construction on the light-water reactors ...
