Congress Reads the Constitution - Edited Continuous Full Reading - House of Representatives - Read

Watch as Congress reads our Constitution; an historic first. This video is edited from the full Congressional reading, which was twice the length due to recognizing each member and the time for each member to get to the podium; all introductions and down-time have been removed so it is just Representatives continuously reading the Constitution! Never before in history has the Constitution been read by Congressmen; so enjoy this wonderful experience. About 130 members participated in the reading on January 6, 2011, at the start of the 112th Congress. On January 6, 2011, Speaker John Boehner started the reading with "We the people," followed by Nancy Pelosi and then the other Congressmen and Congresswomen. Civil rights leader Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) read the 13th Amendment, followed by applause. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) read the First Amendment. Gabrielle Giffords starts speaking at 30:04. Full list of members of Congress who read the Constitution: http://www.conservativeusa.org/read-constitution.htm This is brought to you as a public service of The Conservative Caucus, America's Constitutional Government Action Organization. Edited by Art Harman. Two short sections of the reading were skipped at the time of the reading and were later read by Rep. Goodlatte (R-VA); and these were edited into their correct place for a seamless reading. Other editing removed a few verbal stumbles and the "Except Obama" disturbance to give an uninterrupted reading of the Constitution. Audio levels were improved as well as some Representatives spoke to softly to easily hear. The idea is to give you a "listenable" reading of the Constitution. Enjoy it! The full, unedited reading is available on Cspan.org, where you may watch the entire reading, including objections by a few to reading the document to which they had sworn to "support and defend" just the day before and the "Except Obama" interjection regarding the birth certificate issue. It is hoped this introduction to the Constitution will build respect for it amongst those members who have voted for unconstitutional programs and bills. Spread the message! Organize readings yourself! Video them and send us the link or a DVD and we'll post the very best on our channel! Home, friends, neighbors, school, university, home schooling, civic, scouting, church, and other groups should do this. Encourage readings in state legislatures (of both the US and state constitutions) and in city council meetings too. Learn it, teach it! If you've read and memorized Shakespeare or other great literary and theatrical works; now memorize the greatest document in history; the Constitution which is the foundation of our liberty! If you have never read it or it has been a long time since you had, take the time to read it now. In all of history, no document has helped preserve freedom as much as has the Constitution. That it is attacked as "old," "out of date" or needs to be treated as a "living document" where the plain language protecting liberty is pretended to mean whatever the reader wants--shows how those who seek to undermine it to so undermine our freedom will never cease. http://www.ConservativeUSA.org http://www.SendThemAMessage.com http://www.SaveMannedSpace.com http://www.HowardPhillips.com C-SPAN coverage of the House Chamber is in public domain and carries no restrictions on its use. We the people have ...
We the people have the right to overthrow the government? Just a question trying to educate myself. If we can overthrow them we the people should add a branch that fallow constitutional and unconstitutional. Meaning if they want to pass a law or anything different. It has to go to that branch to decide if it is constitutional or unconstitutional, or it can be a federal crime without having the new branch consents. So we the people can stop something that can harm us or this country. Can we do t

Long overdue, but it would seem that it went in one ear and out the other. Now if we can get them to follow it. Can we also get them to read the bills before passing them?

They should do this ...
They should do this as the first order of business for each new Congressional session. And the President should be required to do this, too, prior to being sworn into office/promising to uphold the Constitution.

@Herculieas No this ...
@Herculieas No this is not a Christian nation plenty of the founding fathers were not Christian however this nation and the constitution was founded on the idea that a supreme being exists and that said supreme being has set forth natural laws that cannot be violated if a nation and people are going to exist in peace and happiness. @Americanjazzlady is misinformed in believing America to be a christian nation. America was created to make men free of all faith. Im Christian thats just how it is.

Geez, what are you?? If you are not a Christian, what are you?? You love America...I doubt it. And, you are wrong again. THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS A JUDEO-CHRISTIAN NATION!! This discussion is over.

You are delusional. ...
You are delusional. Obama's ratings have and are dropping, not going up. You don't know what you're talking about. He is trying to destroy this nation and lied about everything he promised just like the devil does. Obama needs to repent. He wasn't even born in the USA! REPENT HERCULIEAS! America needs to turn back to the HOLY BIBLE and GOD ALMIGHTY and righteousness.

That's cool. Plenty of presidents were Christian. That doesn't make the United States a Christian nation. I am an American. I love America. And I am not Christian.

We aren't a ...
We aren't a Christian nation. It's in the Constitution. I do not wish to have your fanatical beliefs forced upon me; thankfully, I have the Constitution. Your statements do not make that segment void - we are NOT a Christian nation. Oh, and I noticed your comment was removed. Did you realize your stupidity or was that someone else?

Americanjazzlady on 2011-07-12
The statements made ...
The statements made by many of our presidents lined up with the HOLY BIBLE and also they gave glory to God Almighty and the Lord Jesus Christ. Our pledge to the American flag says "one nation under God." SHALOM.

Americanjazzlady on 2011-07-12
On July 4th, there ...
On July 4th, there was a program on one of the Christian networks that showed statements made by MANY of our past presidents, including Bush and also many of the songs that were written about our beloved nation.....were written by Christian men and women. Go check it out for yourself. I am not dealing with you anymore. You believe what you want. I know the truth. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Herculieas on 2011-07-10
It's a Christian ...
It's a Christian nation even when our president and constitution says it isn't? Treaty of Tripoli (1796) - Art. 11. "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion."

These kind of ...
These kind of statements are why we can't progress - because many citizens refuse to see the many flaws in the U.S. It's not, "Don't like it? Get out". It should be "Don't like it? Let's make it better". Don' be ignorant.
