-recycling takes ...
-recycling takes energy. Everything is about energy. Energy cannot be recycled, entropy always increases which is why we exist permanently on the edge of scarcity.

You have to realize ...
You have to realize that 'scarce elements' is not an issue. We had recycling technology ready for industrial use in the very early 20th century. This approach would have allowed us to use all those mountains of trash that piled up and use them to create usable elements/materials for construction of housings, technology, etc. And even then, we had the ability to create more with less (in much higher quality that is being done today). Our issues are rooted in our current economy and 'money'

- its quite likely ...
- its quite likely that after state collapse, drugs could be the currency, i dont think that heralds a utopian era though.

I think we should ...
I think we should replace money with hash and buds. So let's say you wanted to buy a pair of shoes, you'd pay the guy with a quarter of hash and a little bit of green. It's the only hope for humanity otherwise WERE DOOMED!!! All we need is hydrophonic gardens in every house, powered by free electricity. Heating, by free energy, and lots of sex and opium. Watch 'Know your mushroom'

>>"everything is ...
>>"everything is available in abundance, why are we still using money? It's doing nothing but holding us back." - regardless of scarcity/abundance - if we trusted eachother, we'd ditch money. but we dont, which is why we still have it.

- I know stat ...
- I know stat about huge sun energy incident but not all is useable. solar panels =scarce elements to make. life requires temp control,i.e. certain amount must be reflected away, and it taked very precise combination of conditions for humans to flourish. Food = most important resource.. it's already 'solar powered' . agri supported 800m peak before industrial rev. fossil fuels multiplied food 5-10x(petro agri).. thats what we lose. irrigating deserts = +20%, no way near enough
walter0bz on 2010-11-25
"when scarcity was ...
"when scarcity was a reality. " scarcity will return on a scale never seen after peak oil.. we're in deep shit. in future high tech will only be viable for small elite. its starvation / death in oil wars for most of us, and return to peasant/slave labour status for majority of survivors. only strict populatino control could have averted this fate, i.e. when we figured out non-renewable energy (petrochem agri) was multiplying population ... like bacteria in a petri dish.
walter0bz on 2010-11-25
>>"But now thanks ...
>>"But now thanks to technology everything is available in abundance" sorry it isn't. people can always outbreed any tech. Current abundance is temporary whilst we use fossil fuels. Renewables can't match them : deserts with ample land for solar would already be developped. its like lottery win (oil) vs steady income(sun). Nature has been using renewables (photosynthesis) with more advanced tech than us already. Dont make mistake of confusing tech with energy glut..
renoo27 on 2010-11-24
Indeed. But now ...
Indeed. But now thanks to technology everything is available in abundance, why are we still using money? It's doing nothing but holding us back. Money was good a hundred years ago, when scarcity was a reality.

- other ways to ...
- other ways to word it.. - money is used to arbitrate in situations where scarcity exists,or where people dont trust eachother. -if everyone trusted eachother and could create abundance, money wouldn't exist -moneys' emergance is a symptom of these problems, not the cause.
renoo27 on 2010-11-21
Money RELIES on ...
Money RELIES on scarcity. It doesn't create it.

IF EVERYONE HAD ...
IF EVERYONE HAD EVERYTHING, THERE WUD BE NO JEALOUSY,ENVY, HATE, AND NO NEED TO LIVE LIFE STRESSED, WIT PRESSURED ACTION, LIKE WE DO NOW, DRIVEN BY FEAR, IT WOULD BE DRIVEN OUT OF POSITIVE DESIRE. AND THEREFORE ALL CREATED AND DONE WOULD BE OUT OF THAT ENERGY AND VIBE AND NOTHING BUT GROWTH AND PROSPERITY WOULD FOLLOW, LOVING THE LAND WOULD BE LOVING THE PEOPLE ON IT, NOT THE CORPORATIONS THAT BRING YOU WHAT IS ALREADY AVAILABLE,,,WE ARE NEEDING PERMISSION W/MONEY- FUCK DAT- BURN DAT SHIT

- agree real ...
- agree real education is a great thing. what irritates me about VP is the vast oversimplifications about tech, scarcity & money. If money was creating scarcity, how come the number of humans has tripled in one lifetime.. thats the root cause of the problems we face.
S1L3nCe on 2010-01-31
I don't care about ...
I don't care about the VP. I care about education and education only :P It is the only way to preserve our freedom. VP has some very interesting ideas but it needs support from people who are in the same trend of thought. But still, it is a growing child.
walter0bz on 2010-01-31
- of course ALL ...
- of course ALL societies are based on some conditioning, so we need some 'blind-faith' / 'gullibility'.. can't figure out everything in one lifetime - fallback on past experience. Without rules its back to the jungle, take what you want if you're strong enough. VP's a nice idea but will never become reality.. the rules will always be made by whoever has the biggest guns. If it wasn't the USA today it would have been nazi-germany or stalinist russia.. or suicidal religious fanatics
walter0bz on 2010-01-31
- agree parenting= ...
- agree parenting=big difference. but I also beleive some are more predisposed to 'follow' and minority better at 'out-predicting'/manipulating herd. (e.g. how many moves ahead can you plan in chess?) in every era.. witch-doctor, priest/monarch, CEO/media/politician. debt slavery is like quantitative caste system - if proles are gullible enough to take on mortgage, they get breeding licence. those who spot its a scam are much less likely to breed (unless they acquire wealth, rare)
S1L3nCe on 2010-01-31
By nature we are ...
By nature we are all free-thinkers and it is real education what preserves our inherent freedom. Nowadays education is based on Indoctrination. When you have been deeply brainwashed by this society it is very hard to tell if you are thinking for yourself or if you are just a social product. Some people had the luck of having parents that knew or realised about this social conditioning.
walter0bz on 2010-01-31
- I do think some ...
- I do think some are more predisposed to becoming sheep than others. Its nature whether you accept the conditioning or rebel against it. see the 'machiavellan' theory of intelligence evolving.. it hypothesizes that back in the jungle monkeys had to learn to deceive /detect deception in competing over mates. (e.g. is a male monkey feeding its own kids or those of a rival) It' an ongoing evolutionary 'war'
S1L3nCe on 2010-01-31
I agree but it is ...
I agree but it is not in their nature. Social conditioning is makes us sheep.
