War of the Worlds - Terminator Effect - Machine Take Over - Jacque Fresco - The Venus Project
We have been conditioned to think that machines if given to much power will take over the world and enslave humankind. This is a Sci Fi fairy tale for machines have no desire to control the world. They are merely extensional to those they serve. Fear the misuse of technology rather then technology itself. In a resource based economy there will be a new set of beliefs and incentives in relation to the use of machines and it wouldn't be to dominate, control, kill or enslave one another.Category: Education

I like this guy, ...
I like this guy, but I don't agree with this machine-won't-take-over impossibility. If you can design a robot that can replicate itself, it can act like a virus. Viruses do not have ambition, nor does it have any emotion, thoughts...etc. But they do replicate by "taking over" other cells, and for that viruses has a very high evolutionary fitness level. If a computer was ever designed to replicate and have enough variability during replication, natural selection can act on it, and it can compete.

That's stupid ...
That's stupid because people have kids fighting in the back of the car and you turn around would you kids settle down and you run right into another car. So we don't want people driving cars.

That means there ...
That means there are devices called proximity devices. You drive up to you house the lights go on. You don't even need to get out to turn the lights on. You press another button and the garage door opens. You don't even need to get out of the car when it's raining. If you put those same things on automobiles they can't hit each other. Instead of putting up a sign that says drive safely.

No machines will ...
No machines will feel anything. You can get a machine to say Oh how awful that is. Even speak in facial expression. But there's no feeling in the machine. Machines are not rigged to feel. There's a reason for it. If I made an automobile and gave it freedom and personality. It might say where the hell did you learn to drive you want to get us killed. You don't want a machine to do that. You want a machine to tell you how to drive. You want a machine to take over.

Not machines, ...
Not machines, machines don't have ambitions they don't want to run the show they don't want to be president that's a human trait. Will there be a machine take over. No matter how smart they are. They do not have feelings. Machines do not feel. I can make a machine out of plastic and other materials. And if you talk to it. You say my brother was killed in an accident. The eyebrows might move at the right angle and so o well I'm so sorry to hear that.

Monday and it never ...
Monday and it never says give me a god damn day off will ya. Machines don't care. If a machine produces 4000 bottles of coke a day. It says Jesus Christ turn the machine off its getting hot. They don't care. So Machines do not hurt people. Its people that drop bombs with machines. They use machines to drop bombs. They used guided missiles but their guided by humans. People pollute the ocean the air people commit serial killings.

We want to free ...
We want to free people from most jobs. But people say you have to work to earn a living. No you don't have to. They are installing machines in automobile factories. They used to have 3000 employees now they only have about 100. Machines put the cars together. You see the robots lifting up the cars putting the wheels on. In the next 10 years machines will do most everything. Is it a machine take over? No. Michines done care if you work them Saturday Sunday.

The whole notion ...
The whole notion that machines will take over the world assumes that if machines develop sentience they will turn out exactly like we did with violence. That machines would be over-ambitious from the get go and be driven to perform genocide on the human race. If machines were to achieve sentience, I am quite confident the last thing they would do is become their creators by annihilating their creators. If anything, they would be thankful, humble, and eager to serve for mutual benefit.
