Jacque Fresco / Roxanne Meadows - The Venus Project - Project Stream Russia (Dec 22, 2011)
Jacque Fresco and Roxanne Meadows of "The Venus Project" appeared via web conference on Project Stream Russia on December 22, 2011. Original video can be seen here: http://digitaloctober.com/event/jacque_fresco The first 20 mins or so did not have any audio, so this was deleted off this video. There was also a Venus Project introduction video that was omitted (most had no audio). There was a Russian round panel discussion as well afterwards that lasted over an hour that is not posted here. Please go to the above link if you would like to see that.Category: Tech

"Politics is simply ...
"Politics is simply a warty outgrowth of religion" -UG Krishnamurti As we move 4ward, just think, this generation gets 2 graduate 2wards a new paradigm. At age 64, i support the idea of a RBE b/c in today' techno era it's possible! The only problem is that it's in the wrong hands. Continue moving 4ward ur kids will thank you instead of saying "WTF"!!! In solidarity, Mamma D "^_^"

Of time: [a] 10:07 ...
Of time: [a] 10:07 there is an interesting area for debate! [b] The number of young children in our society with autism is growing This concept - For lack of a word, say "emotional tranference" maybe? ala "education involves the transference of knowledge" - is known - exposure to children like that shows. [c] 2 layers to psychology. On one hand, agreed. BUT, we walk a fine line denying care to those suffering, mentally or otherwise. Compare HAZARDS: religious basis=deny medical (ie.god saves).

so u agree that ...
so u agree that the RBE works in theory, and u believe it should be tried. then we agree. from ur previous comments, it sounded like u oppose the implementation of a RBE.

everything needs to ...
everything needs to be tested. Even Jacque says he hopes to build an experimental city to see it tested. If things don't work, it will be changed. I think Peter Joseph is still a little down from the split. I still love listening to Jacque's perspective in all parts of life - M

even zeitgeist (for ...
even zeitgeist (for which i was a member for nearly 3 years and am quite familiar with the videos) concedes that it is not enough to say a particular system will work, and that in the true nature of evidence derived from the inductive, scientific method, it must be demonstrated that certain claims they make hold true, if they hope to gain mass support. thats why they have plans to set up a micro RBE system when they can acquire enough land. good for them i say :)

applicator.... ...
applicator.... technology, as im sure you know, is no more than an extension of human creativity. technology produces nothing. humans applying technology can. a machine that produces abundant clean water at the push of a button, at no cost to the environment, for all to share, sounds great. however these videos fail to demonstrate the mechanism of input (energy, labour and resources) , beyond ambiguous, deductive postulation.
UnluckyGambler on 2012-02-04
applicator? wat do ...
applicator? wat do u mean by that? if theres a machine that can produce clean water without harming the environment at the push of a button, how will the human factor make this technology any less efficient? if u need me to link u to a video showing the current and near-future state of technology, then u havent even tried to look this stuff up. hell, even zeitgeist addendum has more than enough info to get u believing.

which videos ...
which videos demonstrate scarcity being overcome by the venus project, and not just theory and postulation ? thanks.... technology is only as efficient as its applicator, so again, you need to show that the venus project can efficiently harness technology for sustained abundance for all. your 'ends' are fine, but what are the 'means' ?
UnluckyGambler on 2012-02-04
the venus project ...
the venus project has a plethora of videos demonstrating we can, through technology, circumvent scarcity. it is the foundation of a resource based economy, dont u think we wouldve shown enough evidence for this? all u gota do is look. clean water, food, energy, among so many other things, are easily obtainable in abundance. one doesnt even need to know about RBE, only by being knowledgeable in technology, to know this is true.
scottpastry on 2012-02-04
until you can ...
until you can actually demonstrate that the venus project can circumvent scarcity, then there is absolutely no reason to beleive that it can. it is merely speculation.
UnluckyGambler on 2012-02-04
affluent people ...
affluent people still live in a system of scarcity. the SYSTEM has scarcity, not just most of the individuals. and so, affluent people, though they themselves do not suffer scarcity, they are living in a scarce system, which gives their affluence value. if everyone else were as affluent as they, then being that affluent would be meaningless and lose its value, therefore there would be no incentive to behave corruptly to keep their affluence. its common sense, with plenty of proof.

Jacque makes it ...
Jacque makes it clear that an isolated attempt can not work while the rest of the world is attached to the monetary system would still need to buy and import things at that place does not exist.

"Just like our ...
"Just like our current society using money, shapes people to be dumb, ignorant assholes." passive aggressive much? regardless, making such sweeping generalisations and judgements is pretty anti social and destructive to society in general, you know? of course i dont need to tell this to someone who knows which values are best for everybody in the future ;)

such a community cannot exist (for long or at all) in a world in which everyone else still holds on to old ways of thinking.

I did not speak of ...
I did not speak of mass social education, please don't put words in my mouth. I was referring to social norms and values of the future, shaping people as they grow up, not an education system. (Just like our current society using money, shapes people to be dumb, ignorant assholes.) Sorry if that was not clear.
