Strange Culture
Alternately teasing and terrifying, STRANGE CULTURE molds one man¹s tragedy into an engrossing narrative. In 2004, Steve Kurtz (Thomas Jay Ryan), an associate professor of art at the State University of New York, Buffalo, was preparing an exhibition on genetically modified food for the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art when his wife, Hope (Tilda Swinton), died in her sleep of heart failure. But when paramedics noticed petri dishes and other scientific paraphernalia in the home, they alerted the F.B.I.; within hours Mr. Kurtz found himself suspected of bioterrorism, his home quarantined and his wife¹s body removed for autopsy. Filmmaker Lynn Hershman-Leeson bends the nonfiction form to her own unconventional will. The result is a fascinating collage of re-enactments, news clips and interviews, illuminating not only the implications of corporate meddling in the food chain but the ease with which innocent civilian behavior can become a suspicious act.Category: Movies

I really enjoyed ...
I really enjoyed Food Inc.I recently watched a documentary on here called "A River of Waste" which talks about the pollution from food corporations... It's very slow to begin with, but picks up pace. If you pay for food from these corporations not only are you paying for an unhealthy, abused, animal- you are supporting the deteiroration of our water supply and paying for communities to be poisoned. And of course there is NO justice for the people who get sick(and die) as a result.

Great video. The interesting thing is that once a person has an experience like this, where they wake up to the ugliness of their culture/society, they never forget. So the Government/Corporations are fighting a losing battle. They cannot succeed in the long run. The question is, how long will their illegitimate and tyrannical hold on power last?

don't get confused ...
don't get confused between a centralised government and control over people's liberty though. Both left wing governments (a larger centralised power) and right wing (power given to businesses and smaller governmental powers) can both become totalitarian, i.e fascist. Look up the Political compass to get a better idea of what I'm talking about

And If you blame the Gov. for being over zealous with their investigation, think again what you would demand if you lived next door to them.
