Culture is about ...
Culture is about values. For example I live with my mother and I often ask her for advice. That is because I'm Polish and in our culture we value family. The majority of people in North America value "independence" and think that being close to your family is a sign of weakness.For me it's not because I was raised in way that makes me believe that family is an important part of my life.

The problem I see ...
The problem I see is that popular media forms a culture that is not representative of one's actual culture. Media would lose it's ability to entertain if it showed only the familiar aspects of a culture, no law breaking, no societal norm breaking. It would be boring. So instead it is and idealized fantasy but if one does not have a strong enough family and community bond the false media culture can smother common culture.
