the reason the ...
the reason the public is so 'woefully uninformed' is simple: they don't care about politics. the idea that they are too poor/busy to follow politics is nonsense. they aren't too poor or busy to follow american idol or the real housewives of new jersey. if people spent their free time studying rather than browsing facebook or watching reality tv, they could very well get informed. most normal people find politics to be boring and toxic hence, they don't spend a lot of time on it.

"Ron Paul is the best of the Republicans, SO I GUESS MITT ROMNEY IS SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE. LET'S TALK ABOUT ROMNEY NOW." I'm not accusing TYT of being "Establishment" or anything, it's just kind of ironic that even someone who views him as the most agreeable presidential candidate will ignore him in favor of those who represent the status quo (Romney).
