Pather Panchali 1955 (Song of the Little Road) Bangla Movie Full
Movie : Pather Panchali 1955 (পথের পাঁচালী) (Song of the Little Road) Directed by : Satyajit Ray Screenplay by : Satyajit Ray Based on Pather Panchali by : Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay Cast : Kanu Banerjee - Harihar Ray, Apu and Durga's father Karuna Banerjee - Sarbajaya Ray, Apu and Durga's mother Subir Banerjee - Apu Ray Runki Banerjee (Uma Dasgupta, teen) - Durga Ray (Child) Chunibala Devi - Indir Thakrun, Old aunt Haren Banerjee - Candy seller Music by : Ravi Shankar Cinematography : Subrata Mitra Editing by : Dulal Dutta Studio : Government of West Bengal Distributed by : Edward Harrison (1958) Merchant Ivory Productions Sony Pictures Classics (1995) Release date(s) : August 26, 1955 (India) September 22, 1958 (US) Country : India Language : Bengali Budget : 150,000 (US$3000) Script : The film never had a complete script; it was made from Ray's drawings and notes. Ray tried to extract and build a simple theme out of the apparently random sequences of significant as well as trivial episodes of the novel, while preserving the loitering quality of it. Ray himself commented that, "The script had to retain some of the rambling quality of the novel because that in itself contained a clue to the feel of authenticity: life in a poor Bengali village does ramble." Some notable shifts from the novel in the script include the death scene of Indir Thakrun, which occurs quite early in the novel in a village shrine at the presence of some adult members of the family; in the film she dies in the open in the presence of Apu and Durga. The scene of Apu and Durga running to catch a glimpse of the train is not there in the novel, neither child manages to see the train there, although they made an attempt. Finally, the ending of the film - the departure of the family from the village - is not the end of the novel. Awards : Pather Panchali won multiple national and international awards 1955 - National Film Award for Best Film (Golden Lotus Award) National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Bengali (Silver Lotus Award) I India 1956 - Best Human Document I OCIC Award - Special Mention I 9th Cannes Film Festival I France Palme d'Or I 1956 - Vatican Award, Rome I Italy 1956 - Golden Carbao, Manila I Philippines 1956 - Diploma of Merit - Edinburgh International Film Festival I Scotland 1957- -Selznick Golden Laurel for Best Film - Berlin International Film Festival I Germany 1957 - Golden Gate for Best Director I Golden Gate for Best Picture - San Francisco International Film Festival I U. Although my childhood much better in Jessore and Bongaon on the other side of Jessore. Even life was better in the 50's and 60's in my area than now a days. There are many improvements, but the nature suffered a lot due to over population. I don't know when the our country will see the bright light in future. Still most people in Indian sub-continents live in dirt and poverty.

Having a fertile land and how bad most people lived and living in Bengal, I can't imagine now a days. I think religion and lack of proper education left people in poverty and misery. It is বিভূতিভূষণ বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় er autobiographical novel, Pather Panchali. He lived short life(only 55). years). I read his short biography and many people born and lived that condition in our Bengal. I was born not far from he was born and my uncle is from Boangaon and I have been there several times.

Just finished watching the film. This download is still in very good quality. I watched before not so good quality. I never had chance to see in Bangladesh, because not so many Kolkata based films were in Bangladesh, when I left the country in 1974, but later I returned for year and some months twice,. Because of Internet, everybody can see old and new movies and many other things, where ever he lives in the world.

Thanks for uploading. I am just watching and tomorrow will watch the rest of the movie. I remember that Babita told in TV interview that Ray did the same thing with ashoni sanket and told that his notes on the right side of the paper and left side drawings how to step by step. Even she told that she did not much experiences, but sayajit mostly did not repeat the same play many times. Most of the acts she did in first time and she surprised that. She told that he was so kind and very polite
