I don't dispute your take on this matter, genetics and environment go hand in hand but maybe where this is going is that the environment is something we can change (for the better). Genetics being a different matter altogether.

This is no better ...
This is no better than those who say 'my problems are based on genetics' to understand why we develop the way we do, we need to look at both environment and genetics. Genetics are influenced by environment, you cannot separate the two and blame either one for the faults of our species. He is arguing for the side of environment and while his arguments are in no doubt viable he has ignored an entire part of behaviour which is genetics and failed to explain why genetics play no part in behaviour.
