Matilda, thank you for making mention of the documentary 'Music Around Us: New Wave'. It was splendid viewing and certainly a time capsule of a very important and innovative period in Melbourne. I lived in Australia in 1975, and watching the mentioned documentary has really taken me back to that scary, yet exciting place and time. I wasn't present in 1979, but I did buy a lot of antipodean post-punk at the time. It is a shame Danger Dancer didn't release a record. They sound good!

I know... perhaps I should put up an 'instructional' text on how to rid of those stupid texts that are at the top of the screen through the ENTIRE effin video... lol.... Hi, Danger Dancer, seen on 'Music Around Us: New Wave' was the prerequisite of Real Life. They were an indi-post-punk group, that my dad worked with for a short time. They weren't as commercially bound as Real Life and I believe they had only released one or two singles. Zatorski was a scruffy nerdy multi-instrumentalist in the commercially hopeless Danger Dance, but in Real Life a rockstar with an impressive make over. Very interesting to compare the difference!

DD played at Crystal Ballroom, the venue where all the young kids went to pogo and do drugs; before they grew up and became famous. Thanx Matilda for the mention, the before-they-were-stars spotting is all over that 'Music Around Us: New Wave' film.. From playing those dodgy post-punk songs in Danger Dancer to this hit in just three years is pretty impressive progress.

my parents used to see Richard Zatorski playing in Danger Dancer in the late 70's - a few years before he formed Real Life. Richard Zatorski can be seen in 1980 being interviewed and playing in Danger Dancer in 'Music Around Us: New Wave' on youtube.
