If Italy and Greece go bankrupt, they will slowly drag all European country: first of all Spain and Belgium, then Austria and Netherlands, after that all East country (Poland, Hungary etc) and finally France, Germany and England. I agree with that. And for the record I don't think he was the best, or even a particularly good choice. I just tend to play devil's advocate in order to offer a different perspective in a public discussion like this. You have to admit that politics(american) are reaching out to a lot more people now, and perhaps his presence was an attempt to do that. Every debate can't be a bastion of thought provoking wisdom. And again I'm just playing devils advocate, I happen to agree.

@WhenDreamsTouchFire And what is your point? An amendment is, in all practical sense, a CHANGE in the Constitution. You yourself pointed out the slavery issue, which constitutes a change. Whether you want to play at semantics and say that the constitution (the document itself) was not changed, is irrelevant, because the Constitution as what actually matters not a specific document but permeable the law of the land HAS changed Also, only, at most, 1/3 of Southern Americans owned Slaves...

I would have chosen ...
I would have chosen someone else. I'm sure he's qualified, but he was chosen because he's recognizable. With that said he seems a logical choice except his personality doesn't fit the form of the debate, at least it shouldn't. A proper debate should be informative, thought provoking, giving each candidate adequate time to respond to rational straightforward questions with direct answers. Candidates should be allowed to engage one another without sensationalism.
