In spite of darkness. a spiritual encounter with auschwitz

A feature length documentary film by Christof Wolf Auschwitz -- unique symbol of methodically perfected horror, and at the same time destination for daily streams of tourists. How can an encounter with this place avoid the banality of a visit? This question was asked by New York Zen master Roshi Bernhard Glassman. His answer: the "Auschwitz Retreat". He invites people of different ethnicity and belief to face Auschwitz directly and without cover. Stalin K. is a media and human rights activist, with 20 years experience pioneering new models of participatory media. He is a teacher, trainer and an internationally acclaimed documentary filmmaker. He is one of India's leading exponent of community radio, campaign design and community video. In 1991, when he was 23 years old, he co-founded Drishti, a media, arts and human rights organization based in India and was its Director till September 2008. He currently leads Video Volunteers (www.videovolunteers.org), an international organization dedicated to empowering community voices by setting up media projects around the world. Stalin has made over a dozen documentaries and has received several national and international awards. His films, Lesser Humans and India Untouched, on the issue of caste and Untouchability, are responsible for much of the international attention to Dalit issues. Lesser Humans won the Silver Conch at the Mumbai International Film Festival and a Special Mention at the Amnesty International Film Festival in Amsterdam in 1998. First film festival 'john paul ii'

John Paul II gave up work on stage to respond to his vocation to the priesthood, but he never abandoned his passion for art and artists, to whom he wrote a letter on April 4, 1999. Ten years after this letter, the first that a Pope addressed specifically to actors, the American production company 7eventhDay Media.inc organized a film festival John Paul II, inspired by the ideals Pope promoted in using art to promote the faith. For John Paul II, the Church and society need art because it can uniquely express the supernatural. At the same time, he warned that art needs faith because the artist is always looking for the ultimate answer to things. This first edition of the festival, entitled 'Faith through the storm', will consist of feature films, short films and documentaries from around the world with goal of promoting love, human dignity, respect, forgiveness, compassion and which challenge people in body and spirit. The festival will be held in Miami October 30 to November 1. In addition to feature films and documentaries, there will be lectures and concerts. The three founders of the company say in the website on the festival that the box-office success of films such as The Passion of Christ or the film Bella show that society looks for films which transmit values of love, respect for life, or safeguarding the family. Spirit of the Sea Festival in White Rock. This weekend will be full of free fun for the whole family, including a children's carnival and parade, beach games and races, fireworks and continuous live entertainment. The Spirit of the Sea Festival is an annual weekend-long celebration in the proud community of White Rock, British Columbia. A variety of events span more than 2 kilometers along the waterfront overlooking the silver beaches of Semiahmoo Bay. This is a family oriented celebration of the water, land and life of the Semiahmoo Peninsula. PLEASE FAVORITE! Spiritus is a horror/suspense short film that was made in 72 Hours for a film festival. It ended up winning Best Overall and Audience Choice, it was also a finalist in Towson University's Media Arts Festival. We needed to include 3 elements for this film: 5 red balloons, A person doing an impersonation of Pee Wee Herman, and a line of dialogue "You'll shoot your eye out." Indie spirit film festival volunteer jonathon clepfer interview

Jonathon Clepfer (an aspiring sound engineer in movies) is one of many Cheyenne Mountain High School students in Colorado Springs, CO that donated their weekends to support the Indie Spirit Film Festival April 23-25, 2010. The students, under the supervision of their teacher and filmmaker Jeff O'Brien, filmed the filmmaker panel, general interviews, testimonials about the events, and did interviews with as many filmmakers as they could find during the festival. Haydn - seven last words - sonata vii - navarra string quartet at the city of london festival

Joseph Haydn's 'Seven Last Words from the Cross' - Sonata Seven - as performed by the Navarra Quartet. The words are: 'In manus tuas, Domine, commendo spiritum meum' 'Father, into your hands I commit my spirit' (Luke 23.46) Haydn's remarkable string quartet cycle was composed for the Lenten liturgy at Spain's Cádiz Cathedral in 1787: each slow movement was to follow a sermon on one of the dying Christ's last sayings in the gospels. This performance was a part of the 2009 City of London Festival and took place in the Church of St. Stephen, Walbrook, on the 26th of June 2009. The Navarra Quartet consist of: Xander van Vliet (Violin), Marije Ploemacher (Violin), Simone van der Giessen (Viola), Nathaniel Boyd (Cello).
