Should big corporations like Exxon profit when a resource like energy is free and abundant? It's time to start giving everyone in the US an "energy wage" like they do for the citizens of Alaska. When something is free and abundant like water and air, it should also be free of charge, or reimbursed to the taxpayers. 9/18/11 UPDATE: This isn't about capitalism or communism. In fact, capitalism and the mass market system has contributed greatly to progressing humanity. It's more about advancing technology and the impact that technology is having on productivity and the need for labor. The capitalism that worked well for us in the 50's and 60's doesn't work when we have to destroy food and tear down housing in order to keep prices high. Read this excellent article just published by CNN, www.cnn.com Capitalism doesn't work when the mass market disappears because we no longer need labor to produce things. Make no mistake, every good idea is a double edge sword or utopian

If somebody tries to tell you that the system you're living under (status quo) is so bad, we need a better system, ask them what they propose. You'll find out right away, their system either claims to be perfect, or it'll be only better at the expense of others. Whether the alternative to our status quo is libertarian, Fascist, Theocracy, resource based economy, States Rights, direct democracy, anarchism, if it's utopian, I'm not interested. If it's NOT utopian, then it's a double edged sword, and it cuts both ways, the benefits will be at the expense of others.

Seigniorage cannot be a taboo because that is the pump of the economic engine, according to both, Keynesian and Austrian school of economics. Keynesian credit, or more simply the banking seigniorage income, is a resource for the economy to be fully assessed and investigated as a possible solution to the current financial and economic international crisis. In a hyper simplified way, one can say that the hoax of debt is a simple mathematical equation where two opposite factors, indicating debt vs. credit cancel each other; just like |-10| = |+10|, and whose result is 0. So, if you issue a credit in the amount equal to the debt, and give it to people who might turn it to the State to repay its public debt, then the accounting problem would be solved in 2 minutes without creating inflation. Banks function and are based upon such equation, not on the accounting system of in and out. Problems only occur when banks hold both credit and debt, ie crating that phenomenon well known as 200% usury by banks at the time of monetary creation. Seigniorage revenues are written off in the banks' balance sheet as "reserves," therefore as passivity instead of profits. This way banks fraud the IRS, occulting this profit, and always reporting losses to be bailed out. We suggest taxing such "reserves," writing them down as profits, not losses. Seigniorage is the tax free profit made by banks, ie the equivalent of all the money lent to individuals and Governments, less the printing costs. Such ...

RonPaul2012.com http CampaignForLiberty.com http RevolutionPAC.com In January 2009, the administration claimed that if Congress passed a rush stimulus bill, the United States would be saved from economic catastrophe that was threatening to send unemployment figures above 8 percent. Government stimulus was the answer and if we cared about our country, we would set aside our reservations and do what needed to be done to pass the bill. Congress passed the bill. Unemployment continued to go up and has been well over 8 percent ever since. (In fact, economist John Williams of ShadowStats finds unemployment to be closer to 23 percent using traditional methodology.) Yet some are claiming the first stimulus worked and all we need to bring back prosperity is more government stimulus. Stimulus might appear to work for some people for a short time. It worked for a short time for Solyndra. For a time, they could pretend to be engaging in productive activities that would help the economy. For a time, unemployment was 1100 people less. But the recent bankruptcy of Solyndra shows that the government is a terrible venture capitalist. This charade cost the American people over half a billion dollars they could not afford, yet there is no mea culpa. The administration is not questioning its calculations, or how they could have been so wrong on their unemployment predictions in the wake of the last stimulus. Instead, they want more money. The story of broke response

Students, get a full week of this at a summer seminar: lrnlbty.co Prof. Art Carden responds to "The Story of Broke" (bit.ly a recent video by the creators of "The Story of Stuff." In "The Story of Broke," Annie Leonard claims that the government isn't actually broke. Rather, the government just wastes resources on the wrong things like subsidies to the dinosaur economy and war. She claims that the government should change its ways, and instead, subsidize firms that will bring us the future we really want. Art Carden agrees with Leonard that war and subsidies are wasteful, but is skeptical of notion that there is one unified vision for the future. To Carden, everyone has a different vision for the future. Our path to the future, he argues, is determined by the interactions of billions of unique individuals pursuing their own objectives. Additionally, Carden questions Leonard's distinction between bad subsidies and good subsidies. Every subsidy, deemed good or bad, must be allocated through the political process. Lobbyists and special interests exert a large degree of influence on political decisions, and they use this power to direct subsidies in their own favor at everyone else's expense. Carden concludes that government spending won't buy a brighter future. A brighter future will emerge when people are allowed to spend money on things they care about. Put another way, positive change will come from billions of people cooperating freely and voluntarily with one another ...
