The Inherent Design Flaws In The
This is a video response to Peter Joseph's reply to Stephan Molyneux on his Review of Zeitgeist moving forward. In this video I establish that the official Resource Based Economy has numerous very real, and legitimate problems. Those problems are not minor details that can be glossed over or fixed at a later date, they are in fact inherent design flaws which render it unworkable. Fender premium audio system engineers dish on the challenges inherent in car audio design (video)

Fender Premium Audio System Engineers Dish On The Challenges Inherent In Car Audio Design (Video)
Not surprisingly, designing an audio system for an acoustic environment that consists of multiple glass planes, forced asymmetrical listener positioning, and unavoidably close proximity to a combustion engine can be a bit of a headache. Those were but a few of the challenges new to Fender's Chuck Adams when he took on the spearheading of the new Fender Premium Audio System car stereo. Luckily for Chuck he had Panasonic's Natan Budiono and that company's 40-plus years of car audio experience to bounce his ideas off of. We spoke to the engineers at the recent Chicago Auto Show where we learned about the Fender Premium Audio system's most unique components, and how they served to overcome the biggest obstacles to a pleasurable car listening experience.

Australia's own bullet train

Australia's Own Bullet Train
JD Rail Solutions has designed the innovative "Smart Track" system which can be used in the implementation of a new high-speed rail system which would help almost two-thirds of the Australian population, and would also dramatically cut carbon emissions. Travel times between Sydney and Brisbane would be reduced to just 3 hours. JD Rail Solutions has developed the unique Smart Track system which offers many benefits over existing methods of ballast rail systems. The Smart Track system is ideal for a high speed rail network, with capability for bullet trains to travel in excess of 400 km/hr. Traditional rail systems are accompanied by inherent design faults which can lead to: • "washouts" of ballast during heavy rains; • high maintenance costs; and • excessive weight over bridge structures. The Smart Track system developed by JD Rail Solutions has been designed to reduce maintenance, which in turn reduces the associated maintenance costs. It is also lighter than traditional rail systems, which provides ongoing cost savings for bridge construction. "aesthetics of decay, design for dying electronics" by [dnasab]

"Aesthetics of Decay, Design for Dying Electronics" 2010-2011 ,2.08 mins HD Video, edition of 5 + 2 AP This HD Video comments on the lifespan of current consumer display screens, and the inevitability of its death. Broken screens and the inherent designs created by the organic nature of the cracks have been photographed, studied and have influenced the aesthetics of the video. By mapping video into the broken areas and juxtaposing multiple videos within the design, a glitching video has been created. In the action of playing this video on your iPad ,computer screen or HD tv screen, you are virtually rendering your own screen broken. The dichotomy of the ever newer screen playing HD content that turns your new screen into a dying screen highlights the inevitability of the death of your own hardware. While simultaneously revealing the beauty of the decay and death of electronics and questioning the lifespan of display screens. The video actually ends with the destruction of the screen. Video expert recreates toyota sudden acceleration

Video Expert recreates Toyota sudden acceleration
A new investigative report, complete with an automotive professor from a major college, claims to show proof of an inherent design flaw with Toyotas electronics that can cause a vehicle to experience unintended sudden acceleration. The automotive professor went as far as to demonstrate the occurrence with the reporter driving and cameras rolling. Brian Ross of ABC News has tracked down a college professor, Dave Gilbert, from Southern Illinois University, in order to investigate Gilberts claim that the electronics could possibly be to blame for the cases of sudden acceleration in modern Toyota vehicles. According to automotive professor Gilbert, there is a flaw in Toyotas design that allows particular short circuits that could be caused by corrosion, moisture or manufacturing imperfections. In order to recreate the issues for ABC News, however, Gilbert utilized an external bypass system that he says will recreate conditions otherwise possible without any outside devices. The system is fallible, in fact, its got some really troubling design strategies that are employed by Toyota that appear to be outside the norm [of the auto industry]. And their system clearly has a design strategy that has a very slim margin of safety, said Sean Kane, safety advocate from Safety Research and Strategies. Kane was responsible for first spotting the pattern of so-called runaway Toyotas from NHTSA complaints. Gilbert first contacted senior Toyota engineers in California about these claims ...

Cherry Mobile T12 Unboxing - Dual SIM Phone With Reversible Design & Capacitive Screen
Your favorite fake telenovela / TV show / YouTube unboxing videos are back! And this time, Cherry Mobile Diaries Episode 3 presents the Cherry Mobile T12. It is a Dual-SIM touchscreen phone with the usual multimedia features and games built in. But what's unique with the T12 is that you can hold the phone upside down or right-side up and it would still work -- even for calls! The phone has an inherent reversible design that adopts to however which way you hold it in portrait mode -- so you don't have to find out which way is up, just hold it any way you like. Finally, a surprising addition to this phone would be the upgrade to a capacitive screen. Most phones of this caliber sport a resistive screen which most people will not like. So its refreshing to see Cherry Mobile equip the T12 with the much more preferred choice. But let us not delay, you can check out the unboxing video (and a bonus check back on the Spark 3D) right here! Zero waste systems

Zero Waste Systems
Waste = Bad Design Zero Waste is a new way of looking at our waste stream. Instead of seeing used materials as garbage in need of disposal, the "garbage" is seen as full of valuable resources. A pile of "trash" represents jobs, financial opportunity, and raw material for new products. Aiming for Zero Waste means you are attempting to reduce the amount of items you discard all the way down to: nothing! There are businesses operating all over the world with this goal right now. Sadly, the US lags behind the rest of the world but there are some promising initiatives, like San Fransisco's ban on plastic bags. Zero Waste is not simply a commitment to recycling and composting. There is an inherent design philosophy that dictates products are manufactured using materials with the intent of reuse. One aspect of this is that manufacturers would take responsibility for the end of life phases of their products. So your cell phone and laptop would go back to the factory for refurbishing or de-manufacturing to make new products. Eco-Cycle, producers of this video, is one of the largest non-profit recyclers in the USA and they are pioneers in resource conservation. Eco-Cycle's mission is to identify, explore and demonstrate the emerging frontiers of sustainable resource management and raise awareness about the principles of Zero Waste. In the words of their Executive Director Eric Lombardi: "A lot of people think that trash is inevitable, that it's one of the necessary evils in life ...

Chinese guy silently destroys his hp laptop in store!

Chinese guy silently destroys his HP laptop in store!
Well, here's one thing you can do with your HP Pavillion DV series laptop when the nVidia chip eventually fails (cos it will) HP are dragging their heels recalling these laptops with the following inherent design faults:- a) the processor (which gets very hot) shares a heat sink with the graphics chip and b) the graphics chip is connected to the motherboard using lead free solder, which means the solder, under the extreme heat, migrates and causes the graphics to go AWOL. Many think it's their screen that has gone - it isn't, it's the nVidia 8600gs graphics chip. There were rumours that HP had offered a 3year extended warranty on these, but I'm not sure of the reliability of that information....and obviously this guy isn't either!!! STOP PRESS - Recently I called HP UK and they deny any faults with the nVidia graphics chip, despite me telling them how many YouTube videos there were from people with this problem!! The only thing they're recalling DV laptops for is the batteries!!! Ridiculous.

Aero-TV: Flight Design's Tom Peghiny - Plotting the Future of CTLS
One of The (Very) Few LSA Success Stories Looks Ahead I rather look forward to our chats with Flight Design's Tom Peghiny... in that, among all of the LSA community, he can always be counted upon for a bit of good news... and for damned good reason... the Flight Design CT/CTLS series is one of the few unmitigated successes of that confused, embattled industry program. The Flight Design CTLS is the latest version of the CT -- reportedly optimized for the LSA rules. The CTLS has a carbon fiber airframe -- providing a strong, light and smooth aerodynamic design that offers excellent aerodynamic efficiency. Standard Dynon Glass avionics with Garmin radios allows the use of advanced features like XM weather as well as terrain and moving maps. Flight design also offers the option of the Dynon Skyview panel as well as the new Garmin G3X panel. Other new features inherent in the design reportedly enhance the ease of maintenance while the fuselage design of the CTLS minimizes drag and maximizes interior width for occupants as well as baggage. The composite landing gear is designed to better absorb hard landings, while a standard BRS parachute system provides an advanced safety feature on every US-delivered CT airplane. The Rotax 912 ULS engine now has a 2000 TBO making for a more efficient cost/benefit decision. In production since 1997 with over 1500 flying worldwide, the CT's operational flexibility is impressive. For cross country trips, pilots can fill the standard 34 gallon ...

Response to StormCloudsGathering - TZM is Nonviolent
This is intended as a friendly response to StormCloudsGathering, for clarification purposes. Any corrections I make about the Resource Based Economy are NOT to "convince" him of the idea, as it is clear he is not interested, but to make sure that other listeners are clear on what the RBE actually is, what it has the potential to be, and what it is not. I also address several points about "dishonesty," which one might define as "cherry-picking obscure comments from YouTube, to criticize the Movement's tenets or intentions." (I would also like to add that "StormCloudsGathering" is a pretty cool username.) For more information on the Resource Based Economy, please visit: www.thezeitgeistmovement.com http www.zeitgeistmovie.com (Zeitgeist Moving Forward) ------------------------------------------------------ 2/6/2011 - He responded to this video, and here are my comments on it: @StormCloudsGathering (1/6) Hi, thanks for responding, and being civil. I think I understand your genuine concerns now. You got straight to your main point(s) so I don't think you need a 15 min. response. • To clarify - I said, once we have ENOUGH (not all) people agreeing w/this concept we can start implementing an RBE. I specifically said, "if not enough people agree, we can't do it." You cut it off there, and said I "assume everyone will eventually agree," which I never said throughout the entire video. (?) 2/6) I DID say that more, and more people (for whom it was a better alternative) would agree ...

Intelligent design theory

Intelligent Design Theory
Intelligent Design Theory. Another video clip from our friends at www.IllustraMedia.com - Unlocking the Mystery of Life. Intelligent Design is obvious upon close examination of any machine. The concept and design inherent in a machine, whether simple or complex, is self-evident. Whether a machine is high quality or low quality, its designer is both necessary and apparent. Information Theory states that concept and design can only result from a mind. Even the diminished quality of a poorly constructed machine cannot obscure the necessity of an intelligent designer. Machines, as defined by French Biochemist and Nobel Laureate Jacques Lucien Monod (1910-1976), are "purposeful aggregates of matter that, utilizing energy, perform specific tasks." By this authoritative definition, living systems are recognized as machines. A living organism fulfills the definition of a machine all the way down to the molecular level. And yet, because of the philosophical and religious implications of life resulting from Intelligent Design, a surprisingly large portion of the intelligentsia seek to find a mechanism by which life may arise naturally by random chance. Evolutionists admit the inconsistency. George Wald, an evolutionist, states, "When it comes to the origin of life there are only two possibilities creation or spontaneous generation. There is no third way. Spontaneous generation was disproved one hundred years ago, but that leads us to only one other conclusion, that of supernatural ...

Intelligent design 1.7 darwin evolution theory

Intelligent Design 1.7 Darwin Evolution Theory
Natural selection has a simple concept that is being in a state of 'adaptation'. 'Adaptation' is the key principle in creating evolution. It is often misconstrued to be an explanation to the origin of life itself because it is still yet to be proven. Other factors to that principle would be like 'chance' and 'fitness' that makes a lot of difference in various organisms when it comes to the capacities to survive and reproduce in an environment. 'Adaptation' in itself is alterations that can make a difference to any process and along with results - as selection would be acting on heritable variation. Because any modifications from the adaptation becomes an inherent trait that is passed either in genetic forms or memory cell through generations and along with the evolutionary consequences from it. Also in the 'Theory of Evolution' would always require reproducing the entities that form continuity - that may require mutation or variant of itself to satisfy 'adaption' - if the environment requires the 'fitness' factor. To satisfy the condition to happen would need an environment, that is either forced or accidental for it to eventuate, therefore making the right conditions for the three principle forces to occur hence the 'chance'. So, all three factors in Darwinian concept of 'natural selection' base on the 'theory of evolution' are important components to the existence of life and all at the same time would intertwine as it occur. Therefore, what 'natural selection' under ...

Minecraft redstone - a better directional pad!?

Minecraft Redstone - A Better Directional Pad!?
So, I was watching rejem's prototype Snake game (congrats to rejem for beating me to the punch), and I noticed an inherent design problem to pretty much all redstone games that involve timing. When you constantly have to look down at the buttons you are pressing, you take your eyes off the screen. While that seems obvious, it basically ruins the beauty of a controller. You end up having to play redstone games like you were just learning how to use a new controller. "OK, where is the A button, again? Oh crap, I got shot!" So I made a direction pad using pressure plates - obviously - but less obviously, I used water to force me back into the middle. I'll save the rest of the explaining as to why this is better than many current directional pads for the video, but I'd say of all my videos so far, this and the water latch are the things I am most proud of, because they can be easily implemented into a wide variety of designs. Keep subscribing and commenting. I read all of your comments, because there aren't that many. Remember: my end goal is to be a jaded asshole. Step one is having too many comments to read that I begin skipping over some. I actually also figured out how to dynamically vary the length of my snake's body, but I'll save that video for tomorrow.

FCP X Road Blocks
Apple released Final Cut Pro X to a lot of user anticipation and quickly received a wide range of responses. The comments from professional editors, however, were largely negative, highlighted by a video lampooning it on Conan. But why such a reaction? This webinar will explore the missing elements that have caused FCP X to be considered less-than-ready for the daily tasks currently tackled by Final Cut Pro 7. In addition, we'll look at whether some of these are merely temporary missing features that can be added later - or - whether the inherent design of the application prevents potential future updates that are adequate. Will Final Cut Pro X ever be received by professional editors as their tool of choice? Join us in this webinar to find out!

Panther tank- achtung panzer!

Panther tank- Achtung Panzer!
The Panther was intended to supplement the Panzer IV and replace the Panzer III medium tanks. Each German Panzer (armored) Division had two tank battalions; the intent was to equip one battalion in each division with Panthers, retaining the lighter, older, but still useful Panzer IV in the other battalion. Beginning in mid-1943, battalions were gradually converted to Panthers. The Panther first saw action at Kursk on July 5, 1943. Early tanks were plagued with mechanical problems: the track and suspension often broke, and the engine was dangerously prone to overheating and bursting into flames. At Kursk, more Panthers were disabled by their own failings than by enemy action. For example, the XLVIII Panzer Corps reported on July 10, 1943, that they had 38 Panthers operational and 131 awaiting repair, out of about 200 they had started with on July 5. Heinz Guderian, who had not wanted Hitler to order them into combat so soon, later remarked about the early Panther's performance in the battle: "they burnt too easily, the fuel and oil systems were insufficiently protected, and the crews were lost due to lack of training." Guderian also stated, however, that the firepower and frontal armor were good. While many of the Panthers used at Kursk were damaged or suffered from mechanical difficulties, only a small number were lost for good and the tanks also achieved success, with 263 Soviet tanks claimed to have been destroyed by them. Although its frontal armour was thinner than ...

High stakes intelligent designing

High Stakes Intelligent Designing
This is my theory on how it all happened, and since you cant prove that it DIDN'T happen this way, it must be correct. (Just an idea that came to me on the bus one day.) Just for fun, this one. Nothing too serious here. Although I'm looking forward to the creationists' defense of the wacky things inherent in our sexual biology. There are far too many to put into one video. Not to mention the reasoning behind Yahweh's attitude to things like foreskins and dead goats. Part of the inspiration came in the form of a book by Rick Warren that I happened to have contact with, called "A Purpose Driven Life", in which he teaches that the entire life purpose for every single human is to worship Yahweh. That's apparently why we're here. A being who makes something other than himself in order to be worshipped. That's not godly, it's pathetic! It is so small, so petty .... so essentially humanly fragile!! So I sent it up in this movie. Hey - he made the universe in order to house some beings who would worship him - it's not such a stretch to imagine that he might alter a few details of that design in order to get a little bit MORE worship, is it? ____________________________ Best comment so far: from BorgHub "thank you satan for making us horny as hell and having our women bleed out of their vaginas"

Hd steadicam test -- diy design #2

HD Steadicam Test -- DIY Design #2
This is exactly the same camera and lens and route that I used for my last HD steadicam test. This time, however, I was using a very different style of steadicam...the same one that the T2i forum did a video of. I'll post a video of my compare and contrast between the two style of steadicam shortly, but in the meantime, enjoy this gimbal-less design of steadicam. This is my first ever test run with it, so it's my noob-ness that makes it rock. It's not inherent to the design. How-to Build vids youtu.be youtu.be

X-29

X-29
The Grumman forward swept wing X-29 experimental aircraft was adapted from an existing F-5A airframe. Because of the inherent aerodynamic instability of the forward swept wing design (think of an arrow shot backwards) a computerized fly by wire control system was necessary. The advantage of this design as opposed to conventional back swept wings were higher lift-to-drag ratio, higher capacity in dogfight maneuvers, higher range at subsonic speed, improved stall resistance and anti-spin characteristics, improved stability at high angles of attack, a lower minimum flight speed and, a shorter take-off and landing distance but, all of this came with a price of inherent instability and much higher drag at near supersonic speeds. The forward swept wings, with movable canards, gave pilots excellent control response at up to 45 degrees angle of attack. Because of the availability of F-5s and advances in low cost computer control systems Turkish Aerospace Industries has considered upgrading some existing TuAf F-5s with X-29 designs.

Dstrss - imagine cup 2011 software design round 2

Dstrss - Imagine Cup 2011 Software Design Round 2
Dstrss (pronounced "distress") is a mobile collaboration tool designed to aid officials and responders in navigating the dynamic challenges inherent to perilous situations such as natural disasters, calamities, disease outbreaks, and civil disturbances. Users of Dstrss -- called responders -- can either respond to or report events that need the attention of other responders via the use of any Windows Phone 7 enabled device. These events can correspond to situations such as a medical emergency, a fire, or a riot. Events are classified by nature and intensity, and are represented within Dstrss visually and geospatially via the Bing Maps API. Responders are organized into responder networks that represent a certain district or precinct. Responder networks are normally distinct entities, but administrators of a responder network may federate networks in order to request out-of-network resources and responders. Responders are further aided in their ability to render positive change on a landscape by Dstrss's use of algorithms to help recommend which events they should address. Dstrss recommends paths of events for responders to address by taking into account salient variables such as: • Distance • Intensity of the event (eg: triage levels, Fire "alarm" levels, etc.) • The capabilities of the responder (eg: medical responder with certain equipment) • Distance between other events and other responders. All of this seeks to do one thing: to allow responders to move quickly in ...

Minecraft halo halcyon class cruiser

MineCraft Halo Halcyon Class Cruiser
Hey guys im back i made Halcyon-Class Cruiser This took about Lol 3 days to make Things i used Binvox Viewvox Post: www.planetminecraft.com Summary: a United Nations Space Command cruiser starship classification designed by Dr. Robert McLees in2510, with a Hull Classification Symbol of SCS. Their service lives were short due to a unique hull design that was costly both to construct and to maintain, lack of speed and poor armament, and concerns about their tactical viability. They were subsequently replaced by the Marathon-class Cruiser. Despite the inherent disadvantages of the design, if upgraded appropriately and handled well, they could be among the most effective, and likely the most expensive, ships in the UNSC Navy.

Tashkeel dubai designs world's first skateable art structure

Tashkeel Dubai Designs World's First Skateable Art Structure
www.facebook.com/skatebiladi The Tashkeel design team was presented with an issue. Skateboarding is a physical manifestation of art yet the facilities skaters inhabit are often artistically void masses of grey concrete. With a location in garden of an Art Gallery/Studio located in an Arabic country the design motivation was to create a skateable art sculpture with an Arabic presence. After countless design iterations we stumbled upon the obvious... The Arabic language. Arabic characters by their very nature have inherent elements that, when put together, could be assembled into a skateable structure. Taking this inspiration we sat down using the logo of Tashkeel (meaning Art) and created a 3 dimensional drawing which was then modified to incorporate skateable elements (stairs, gaps, rails, etc) while still maintaining the authenticity of the Arabic language. The driving factor for the structure was that it must be able to circumnavigated without pushing, be rideable for any skill level, yet challenging enough for expert riders... and ultimately it must be extremely fun. The ramp has been won acclaim from various architectural/design organizations and will be featured in the Middle East's premier design symposium called Design Days. If your interested in finding out more about this structure and the movement of Skateparks as Public Art please contact Tashkeel.org. www.facebook.com/skatebiladi

Teaching machine learning to design students

Teaching Machine Learning to Design Students
Machine learning is a key technology to design and create intelligent systems, products, and related services. Like many other design departments, we are faced with the challenge to teach machine learning to design students, who often do not have an inherent affinity towards technology. We successfully used the Embodied Intelligence method to teach machine learning to our students. By embodying the learning system into the Lego Mindstorm NXT platform we provide the student with a tangible tool to understand and interact with a learning system. The resulting behavior of the tangible machines in combination with the positive associations with the Lego system motivated all the students. The students with less technology affinity successfully completed the course, while the students with more technology affinity excelled towards solving advanced problems. We believe that our experiences may inform and guide other teachers that intend to teach machine learning, or other computer science related topics, to design students. Golden ratio hair colour design by tanya ramirez

Golden Ratio Hair Colour Design by Tanya Ramirez
My Modern Salon feature in the June 2011 issue. Here is a link to the digital edition: www.nxtbook.com Thanks for watching! Cheers, T. Golden Ratio Hair Colour Design by Tanya Ramirez Inspired by Fibonacci and Sacred Geometry January 2011 My latest creative hair colouring design is inspired by Sacred Geometry. Most notably, the Golden Ratio aka Fibonacci Spiral. Sacred Geometry is the blueprint of Creation and the genesis of all form. It is an ancient science that explores and explains the energy patterns that create and unify all things and reveals the precise way that the energy of Creation organizes itself. On every scale, every natural pattern of growth or movement conforms inevitably to one or more geometric shapes. Geometric shapes actually represent the manifest stages of 'becoming'. To see and work with unity and wholeness in geometry can help abolish our false notion of separateness from nature and from each other. Through Sacred Geometry we can discover the inherent proportion, balance and harmony that exists in any situation, all manifest reality and even the circumstances of our day-to-day life. One of the most profound and significant activities encompassed within sacred geometry and lightSource is the 'Golden Mean Spiral', derived by using the 'Golden Ratio'. Leonardo Fibonacci was an Italian mathematician who introduced to Europe and popularized the Hindu-Arabic number system (also called the decimal system). He contributed greatly to number theory, and ...

Isp technologies decimator noise reduction demo

ISP Technologies Decimator Noise Reduction Demo
www.ToneFactor.com - ISP Decimator Noise Reduction Pedal. The Decimator Uses Time Vector Processing the latest in noise reduction technology to provide 60dB of noise reduction, instant response to staccato notes, and ripple-free control of sustained notes. Latest generation of noise reduction technology 60dB of noise reduction Time Vector processing Transparent operation Will not affect guitar tone Dynamically tracks the input signal Patent Pending NR technology Polished chrome chassis The Decimator guitar pedal offers a new approach to Noise Reduction processing with a high level of performance. Most noise suppression systems suffer from one major problem inherent in their design The system cannot be immediately responsive to very short-term staccato notes. The typical downward expander sound reduction system suffers from a dead zone in the release response characteristic that causes a compromise in tracking both fast decaying notes and long sustained notes. The Decimator pedal's design offers a novel approach to tracking the envelope of the input signal called Time Vector Processing. Due to this novel approach in controlling the expander, the Decimator system will instantly respond to short staccato notes and, at the same time, will provide a very slow ripple free control of long sustained notes. The Decimator noise suppression system is very transparent delivering high performance. The Decimator pedal by ISP Technologies is extremely easy to use; simply insert the ...

Design of exoskeletons using musculoskeletal analysis - case d

Design of Exoskeletons Using Musculoskeletal Analysis - Case D
Introduction: In this work, we present the use of musculoskeletal analysis for designing an upper-limb exoskeleton. Four different case studies are performed to study the effect of using a simplified exoskeleton on the muscle loading for arm curl with dumbbell. The simulation results showed that with the use of exoskeleton significant reductions in both, individual muscle forces and elbow flexion moment are achievable. The results also showed that the exoskeleton applied-torque synchronization with the required torque is important for the performance of the device. Prior approaches to exoskeleton designs used a more qualitative designer assessment to describe performance and/or fit. This engenders the usual limitations inherent to any semi- quantitative/qualitative design methodology including lack of invariances etc. In contrast, musculoskeletal analysis provide rational basis for biomechanically quantifying the performance of a candidate exoskeleton design and thus in turn provides a means for quantitatively comparing alternate designs. Nevertheless, the resulting copious amounts of raw quantitative data need to be further processed to extract useful metrics. Careful assessment of the quality, sensitivity and most importantly usability, of both the raw information and extracted metrics, is the focus of our current research.
