January 27th 2012 CNBC Stock Market Squawk Box (Q4 GDP)
1/27/2012 - CNBC Stock Market Squawk Box (Q4 GDP). The economy actually did post a moderate acceleration in the fourth quarter but the recovery is still sub-par. GDP growth rose to 2.8 percent from 1.8 percent in the third quarter. The advance estimate came in lower than market expectations for a 3.1 percent boost. However, the component mix was not favorable. Inventory growth accelerated moderately and added 1.94 percentage points to overall growth. Demand numbers decelerated as final sales of domestic product increased an annualized 0.8 percent in the fourth quarter after a 3.2 percent rise in the third. Final sales to domestic purchasers (excludes net exports) advanced 0.9 percent, following a 2.7 percent gain in the second quarter. Strength in the fourth quarter as mentioned above was largely in inventory investment. Also, PCE spending accelerated to 2.0 percent from 1.7 percent in the third quarter and residential investment improved to 10.9 percent from 1.3 percent. Partially offsetting, government spending fell 4.6 percent after a 0.1 percent dip, nonresidential fixed investment slowed to 1.7 percent from 15.7 percent, and net export worsened slightly. Economy-wide inflation according to the GDP price index eased sharply to 0.4 percent annualized from 2.6 percent in the third quarter. Analysts had called for a 1.5 percent rise. The economy overall improved in the fourth quarter but the mix was not as favorable as hoped. The modest improvement in consumer spending ...

Government purchases declined modestly while gains were seen in net exports, business investment in structures and equipment, and even residential investment. Inventories nudged up. Stock market technical analysis on spy for june 28 2010

Stock Market Technical Analysis On SPY For June 28 2010
www.guerillastocktrading.com Here we go for some weekend technical analysis on the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) for stock trading on Monday, 06-28-2010. The reason we examine the weekly chart in the beginning, even if we trade in a much shorter time frame is that first we have to find out the trend. How many times have you been studying a time frame and then you take an entry off a support or resistance line only to be flabbergasted by a move you didn't think was coming? That happens because the price moves outside the time frame you were studying. To steer clear of being blindsided like this, you must study a higher time frame in an attempt to prove the trend. Specifically that is why we look at the weekly stock chart initially. The weekly stock chart of SPY finished the week with a Bearish Engulfing candlestick. The MACD remains negative on the weekly stock chart. We too see a Bearish Head and Shoulders top being created and we are just on top of closing the neckline on behalf of the right shoulder. Going in closer on the daily chart, we find out that the neckline closes at roughly $104.80 . We as well have the MACD crossing under the 0 line. In half a shake the stock trader thobbit60 writes, "I see eye to eye with your bearish analysis. Hence why not short SPY?" Refuse the impulse to short the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) until the neckline is closed on the Bearish Head and Shoulders top. It also is prudent to get at the very least one day of confirmation underneath the neckline ...

February 29th 2012 cnbc stock market squawk box (q4 gdp revision)

February 29th 2012 CNBC Stock Market Squawk Box (Q4 GDP Revision)
2/29/2012 - CNBC Stock Market Squawk Box (Q4 GDP Revision). GDP growth broke the psychological 3 handle. The Commerce Department revised fourth quarter GDP growth up to 3.0 percent from the initial estimate of 2.8 percent. Analysts had projected the second estimate to come in unrevised at 2.8 percent for the overall number. The latest figure compares to a modest 1.8 percent rise in the third quarter. The upward revision to the percent change in real GDP primarily reflected an upward revision to nonresidential fixed investment, a downward revision to imports, and an upward revision to personal consumption expenditures (PCEs). Demand numbers were nudged higher. Final sales of domestic product increased an annualized 1.1 percent, compared to the initial estimate of 0.8 percent for the fourth quarter. Final sales to domestic purchasers (excludes net exports) rose a revised 1.1 percent, compared to the advance estimate of 0.9 percent. Both series were significantly slower than in the third quarter. Separate from the direction of revisions, the acceleration in real GDP in the fourth quarter primarily reflected an upturn in private inventory investment and accelerations in PCE and in residential fixed investment that were partly offset by a deceleration in nonresidential fixed investment, a downturn in federal government spending, an acceleration in imports, and a larger decrease in state and local government spending.. On a year-ago basis, GDP was up 1.6 percent, compared to ...

Gerald celente - phony gdp numbers

Gerald Celente - Phony GDP Numbers
For the latest Gerald Celente, go to theGeraldCelenteBlog.com - Look at what is behind the rise in the GDP. It is all the stimulus money showing up in the economy. They were paying people to buy more cars. As the stimulus money goes up, the economy will continue to go down. The economists that didn't see it coming are the same people who are trying to predict the future. They have no idea what they are talking about. The stimulus is just temporarily juicing the economy. It's phantom money backed by nothing, and it isn't producing anything. As the money runs out, economic conditions will continue to deteriorate. The government reports a rosy unemployment report, but it is actually closer to 20%. Everyone who doesn't have an economic stake in the stock market can see through all these schemes. It is the brokers and the analysts who want to keep this ponzi scheme going. Having a recovery that is jobless is a lot like being partly pregnant. It's fiction. The growth is the economy is partly coming from new home sales. But this is just another bailout program. There is a credit for new home sales. But everyone and their brother are cashing in on that scheme. There is no recovery, it's just a cover up.

Duncan happens to be at the heart of the Canadian equivalent of Londons City and New Yorks Wall Street - a vital organ at the core of the national economy. About 200000 people work in the district itself but all Canadians feel the effects of Bay Streets decisions.

Weak gdp likely to increase downward pressure on euro

Weak GDP likely to increase downward pressure on Euro
www.tradingfloor.com The volatility in the Euro and stock markets this week was capped by a disappointing Eurozone GDP that showed little hope for early European recovery. Weak private demand, high public debt and unemployment are the root causes. But combined with an unclear response from the EU to the Greek debt problems it means downward pressure on the Euro is likely to continue, according to Saxo Bank Market Strategist Mads Koefoed.

Disappointing gdp, markets start lower

Disappointing GDP, Markets Start lower
This morning, the S&P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES Z1) are trading lower by 5.50 points to 1185.25 per contract. The news out of Europe seems to be getting worst by the minute. Spanish debt yields are climbing on their short term notes. Traders do not have to follow the news out of Europe, they can simply follow the US Dollar Index. When the US Dollar Index rallies or trades higher the major stock indexes around the world deflate and trade lower. This looks to be a volatile trading week despite the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

62. trading the news - economic numbers - gdp part 1

62. Trading the News - Economic Numbers - GDP Part 1
www.informedtrades.com A lesson on what traders of the stock, futures, and forex markets look for when the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Number is released. As we have learned in previous lessons there are many components of the US Economy which can affect overall economic growth and inflation expectations. Some of the major examples here are how many people are employed in the economy vs. unemployed, how much the housing market is growing in different parts of the country, and at what rate the prices for different products in the economy are seeing increases. As all of these things are so important to the economy and therefore to the markets, there are no shortage of economic reports which are released to try and help people gauge how things are going with different pieces of the economy. It is important for us as traders to understand the major reports here as even if we are trading off of technicals, understanding what is happening in the market from a fundamental standpoint can help establish a longer term bias for trading. In the short term an understanding of these numbers will also help to assess the erratic and sometimes extreme movements which can occur after economic releases. The granddaddy of all economic reports is the release of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) number for the economy.
