In this video, I discuss one of the first few concepts that are learned in any Calculus course: the slope of a curve at a point. The formula: m= lim(h approaches 0) (f(a+h)-f(a))/h, resembles the "normal" formula for a slope that we recognize from middle school math: "rise over run" -- or "the change in y over the change in x". This formula is exactly the same, except the two points are so arbitrarily close to each other that they might as well be the same point -- so when solving this, the slope is found at that point. This will yield an exact answer since we are using limits -- so it is not an approximation method.
