Cells cells - parts of the cell rap

Cells Cells - Parts of the Cell Rap
This rap was created for a 6th grade science classroom to teach about the different parts of a cell. With its catchy rhythm and rhymes, students of all learning styles and abilities will be able to learn about cells and their functions while having fun! "Cells, Cells" Original Rap by Ms. Quitmeyer Today's the day were gonna learn about the cell If I teach it okay, you'll know it very well So listen up 6th graders- -no room left for haters- lets talk about the building blocks of life- cells that make us. Chorus: Cells, cells they're made of organelles Try to pull a fast one, the cytoplasm gels The nucleus takes over controllin' everything The party don't stop 'till the membrane blocks the scene Inside the vacuole we can float around for hours Running round with chloroplasts, lovin' sunlight showers Cells, cells, they're made of organelles First things first, there's two different types- animal and plant cells that make up all life. The little things that make up microscopic cells, The main structures- yeah, we call them organelles. Now let's break it down and get some information- How do cells work? It's a crazy combination! -Chorus- The cell membrane is the border patrol, Who can cross over? The membrane lets 'em know The gooey stuff inside, is called the cytoplasm It holds the organelles- don't worry, plasm-has 'em! In the middle of the cell you'll find the big brain, The nucleus surrounded by nuclear membrane Don't forget the vacuole filled up with water It's a basic ...

Cell structure and functions

Cell Structure and Functions
Check us out at www.tutorvista.com This BioCoach module is designed to help you review cell structure. You will find information about the structure of prokaryotic cells and the structure of eukaryotic cells, with a focus on the latter. Animations and interactive activities will enrich your review experience in a dynamic way. This module is designed to be a supplement to, but not a replacement for, your textbook and classroom notes. You can test your understanding of morphology and function of the key structural components described by using the Self-Quiz at the end of the module The common features of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are: 1. DNA, the genetic material contained in one or more chromosomes and located in a nonmembrane bound nucleoid region in prokaryotes and a membrane-bound nucleus in eukaryotes 2. Plasma membrane, a phospholipid bilayer with proteins that separates the cell from the surrounding environment and functions as a selective barrier for the import and export of materials 3. Cytoplasm, the rest of the material of the cell within the plasma membrane, excluding the nucleoid region or nucleus, that consists of a fluid portion called the cytosol and the organelles and other particulates suspended in it 4. Ribosomes, the organelles on which protein synthesis takes place

Structure of neuron

Structure Of Neuron
Check us out at www.tutorvista.com Structural classification Most neurons can be anatomically characterized as: •Unipolar or pseudounipolar: dendrite and axon emerging from same process. •Bipolar: axon and single dendrite on opposite ends of the soma. •Multipolar: more than two dendrites: oGolgi I: neurons with long-projecting axonal processes; examples are pyramidal cells, Purkinje cells, and anterior horn cells. oGolgi II: neurons whose axonal process projects locally; the best example is the granule cell. Furthermore, some unique neuronal types can be identified according to their location in the nervous system and distinct shape. Some examples are: •Basket cells, interneurons that form a dense plexus of terminals around the soma of target cells, found in the cortex and cerebellum. •Betz cells, large motor neurons. •Medium spiny neurons, most neurons in the corpus striatum. •Purkinje cells, huge neurons in the cerebellum, a type of Golgi I multipolar neuron. •Pyramidal cells, neurons with triangular soma, a type of Golgi I. •Renshaw cells, neurons with both ends linked to alpha motor neurons. •Granule cells, a type of Golgi II neuron. •anterior horn cells, motoneurons located in the spinal cord.

Viruses are nanotechnology how a virus works

Viruses are nanotechnology how a virus works
There are many methods of corrupting human DNA, starting with EMF, vaccinations and ending with GM foods. Viruses are artificial nanotechnology created especially for this purpose. Viruses are non-living microscopic particles that attack healthy cells within living things. They do not have the characteristics of living things and are not able to metabolize food. (To metabolize means to change food energy into chemical energy that the body can use.) Viruses are not alive, so they do not have a need for food like living organisms. Viruses do not have an organized cell structure. They are so light that they can float in the air or water, be passed on to other organisms if touched, and fit anywhere. Viruses invade the cells of both plants and animals. They reproduce inside healthy cells causing diseases that are hard to treat. Viruses can not reproduce by themselves like bacteria or cells. They must attach themselves to the cell membrane of animals, or cell wall of plants and inject a part of their DNA into the cells of the host organism.. They do this by using a hollow tube structure to puncture the cell wall/membrane and pass its DNA into the cell. New virus cells are incubated inside the invaded cell. Once the virus DNA reproduces itself inside the cell, it uses the natural process of osmosis to leave the cell. These new virus cells attach to other healthy cells and infect them too. There are no know antibiotics or other medicines that are known to kill viruses. from ...

Rapid visual inventory & comparison of complex 3d structures

Rapid Visual Inventory & Comparison of Complex 3D Structures
NSF Scientific Visualization Challenge 2011 1st place video: Prototype of Brad Marsh's geometric abstraction concept to visually simplify complex data by Graham Johnson, Brad Marsh, and Andrew Noske. www.wired.com This entry demonstrates a new visualization standard we've developed so that complex three-dimensional (3D) datasets can be computationally 'morphed' into much simpler 3D geometric abstractions that are more "visually intuitive" than the original images. Our approach can be used to streamline the scientific analysis of multiple parameters simultaneously for complex 3D images and/or to more effectively communicate key insights afforded from such data to a wide variety of audiences (both scientists and the general public), including schoolchildren. This animation explains how we've applied this unique process for rendering extraordinarily complex biological data (3D image maps generated by 'cellular tomography') into simplified geometric models that are much easier to interpret. The original 3D maps of pancreatic 'beta' cells precisely capture (at the 'nanoscale') both the extraordinary beauty and complexity of the molecular machinery within cells. Even for experts, however, such complex data remain difficult to visually interpret without painstaking image analysis. In contrast, the abstracted versions computed from the original 3D models employ simple geometric shapes to accurately depict the size, number and length of the various different 'compartments' or ...

3d animations - cell signals dolan dna learning center.mp4

3D Animations - Cell Signals Dolan DNA Learning Center.mp4
A signaling pathway begins with the arrival of a chemical signal -- such as a hormone or growth factor -- at the cell surface. The gray structures sticking out of the cell membrane are receptors for these incoming signals. The signal, in this case a platelet-derived growth factor (here in purple and blue), encounters and binds to its matching receptor. A second receptor protein joins in, making the growth factor fit like a key in a lock. The binding of the growth factor causes the receptors to change shape. This change in the protein will be conducted through the membrane and into the cell's interior -- the cytoplasm. The signal is conducted through the cell membrane, into the cytoplasm. The binding of the growth factor outside the cell has caused the ends of the receptor (in gray) to intertwine and activate each other (shown as yellow flashes of light). Once active, the modified receptor ends interact with messenger proteins that will carry the signal through the cytoplasm. From our position in the cell's cytoplasm, we can see the ends of the receptor (in gray) being drawn together as the growth factor outside the cell binds. The receptor ends activate each other before binding an adaptor molecule (shown in pink) and an exchange factor (shown in light purple). An important protein in this pathway, known as Ras (shown in red) then swings around to be activated. Ras, in turn, activates three white "Raf" proteins, before another protein (shown in blue) moves in to ...
