Balboa Park is a 1200 acre (4.9 km²) urban cultural park in San Diego, California, United States named after the Spanish explorer Vasco Núñez de Balboa. The trees here were planted by the famous American gardener Kate Sessions. Placed in reserve in 1835, it is one of the oldest sites in the United States dedicated to public recreational usage. Besides open areas and natural vegetation, it contains a variety of cultural attractions including museums, theaters, gardens, shops and restaurants as well as the world-renowned San Diego Zoo. Balboa Park was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977.[2][3] The park is managed and maintained by the City of San Diego Parks and Recreation Department. Many of the park's attractions are along El Prado, a long, wide promenade running through the center of the park. Most of the buildings lining this street are in the Spanish Revival style, a richly ornamented eclectic mixture of Spanish and Latin American architecture.[2] Along this boulevard are many of the park's museums and cultural attractions, including the San Diego Museum of Man, the San Diego Museum of Art, the Museum of Photographic Arts, the San Diego Art Institute the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, the Natural History Museum, the San Diego Historical Society, Reuben H. For more info visit www.sosorgan.org THE SPRECKELS ORGAN The Spreckels Organ, in the heart of San Diego's Balboa Park, is one of the great concert organs of the world. It is one of the few municipally owned and operated organs in continuous use, and is a unique cultural asset to San Diego. This treasure is the result of the vision of John D. Spreckels and his brother Adolph, who gave to the people of San Diego and the world an outdoor pipe organ capable of performing the full range of musical masterworks; an instrument that would be culturally and artistically uplifting and an inspiration to the human soul. Built by the Austin Organ Company of Hartford, CT (Opus 453), the organ was dedicated on December 31, 1914 preceding the formal opening of the Panama-California Exposition. When first built it contained 52 ranks of pipes, but through subsequent additions now contains 73 ranks, or 4518 pipes. The largest pipe is 32 feet long, and the smallest is about the size of a pencil. The majority of the organ is voiced on 10 inches of wind pressure; the Solo division and a portion of the Pedal are voiced on 15 inches. The organ is powered by a 20 hp blower. Spreckels outdoor pipe organ at balboa park, san diego

Robert Plimpton made this video on August 17, 1998, during his years as Civic Organist to the city of San Diego. Here he plays the well-known 4-manual Austin pipe organ installed in the Spreckels Organ Pavilion at San Diego's Balboa Park. Mr. Plimpton plays one of his favorite works by his colleague / mentor from his days in Philadelphia, the Rhumba for Organ by Robert Elmore. The Rhumba is in a style that calls to mind the jazz music of George Gershwin. The work mixes both classical and jazz / theatre organ elements. Mr. Plimpton reinforces the theatre organ aspects of the piece in his choice of registration, where he adapts the classic sounds of the Spreckels organ to give the impression of a theatre organ (in the middle, lyrical section). If you listen carefully, you can hear the very unique outdoor acoustic of Balboa Park. Although there is no room ambience because the organ speaks into the outdoors, there is a delay echo, that rebounds after about 2/3 second as the organ sound returns from a reflection about 600 feet away in another area of the park. The tradition of outdoor organ concerts started with the installation and completion of the organ pavilion about 1917. This tradition at Balboa Park continues to this day, with weekly free Sunday afternoon concerts and special evening concerts during the summer months. Mathews z7 magnum compound bow shooting at 50yds, balboa park san diego, gopro hd

This is my new Mathews Z7 Magnum compound bow with Black Gold Flashpoint HD site and Trophy Taker Xtreme FC drop. This bow is a 70lb limb 28.5" draw and im 6" tall 185lbs. Right now i have it set at about 60 lbs since im still trying to work on my form and get better stability. I know my grouping wasnt too great on this video but without listing too many lame excuses...it was the end of the day, my arms were getting tired, and it was at 50 yards...im working on getting better and practicing every weekend at balboa park in san diego california. I do have some experience with recurve bows which i feel has helped me a lot with my compound but im definitely no expert and at this point im just trying to have fun, gain some good experience and practice for hunting, and maybe get ready for 3D competitions. overall i love this bow. its very fast, very accurate (yes i normally make better groupings than this video but i am still learning better form and practicing a lot). id like to mention Performance Archery in San Diego as a great source for all your archer needs and wants. they really helped me out and let me try out my bow in store before i even bought it. if youre looking for a new bow, or your first bow, go check this place out. they wont trak you like a noob, even if you have absolutely no idea at all what youre doing.
