Seeking knowledge: the obligation on muslims - yassir fazaga

Islam calls us to seek knowledge. The Prophet (PBUH) made seeking knowledge an obligation upon every Muslim, and he explained that the superiority of the one who has knowledge over the one who merely worships is like the superiority of the moon over every other heavenly body. He said that the scholars are the heirs of the Prophets and that the Prophets did not leave behind dinars and dirhams (ie, money), rather their inheritance was knowledge, so whoever acquires it has gained a great share. The Prophet (PBUH) said that seeking knowledge is a way to Paradise. He (PBUH) said: "Whoever follows a path in the pursuit of knowledge, Allah (SWT) will make a path to Paradise easy for him." (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, Kitaab al-'Ilm, 10) Islam calls us to learn all kinds of beneficial knowledge. Branches of knowledge vary in status, the highest of which is knowledge of sharee'ah, then knowledge of medicine, then the other fields of knowledge. The best of all branches of knowledge are the sciences of sharee'ah through which man comes to know his Lord, and his Prophet and religion. Having Dawahfilms try to get me fired by contacting my workplace. The guy is now claiming that human rights are inhuman as they do not tolerate absolute religious views (you know, human sacrifcie by the Aztecs and so forth). This is the same 'moderate muslim' who MANY youtubers vigorously supported on the basis that I was being a irrational, islamophobic bigot etc etc. Anyway, now that I really don't have anything to stop me from revealing what work I do, a few keywords would have been enough. He continued his Arabic grammar study in Pakistan, where he received a scholarship for ranking among the top 10 scores in the national Arabic studies board examination. Under the guidance of Dr. Abdus-Samie, founder and formal principal of Quran College in Faisalabad, Pakistan, he developed a keen methodical understanding of Arabic grammar. He further benefited from Dr. Abdus-Samie by internalizing his unique teaching methods and later translating his work into English for the benefit of his own students. Nouman currently serves as professor of Arabic at Nassau Community College and has taught Modern Standard and Classical Arabic at various venues for nearly 6 years with over 700 students. Abdur Raheem Green speaks on the love of Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) and His Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam - peace be upon him). And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." 3:31 Born in Dar-es-salaam in Tanzania to British parents, Green's father (born in England), Gavin Green, was a colonial administrator in the then extant British Empire. At an early age he moved back to the UK with his parents. His mother is of original Polish origin. At the age of 10 he attended a Roman Catholic Monastic boarding school at Gilling Castle and then went onto Ampleforth College and went on to study history in the London University. However, he left his education unfinished in an effort to devote himself to Islamic works. He became dissatisfied with Christianity at the age of 8, with it not making sense to him. Green researched and practiced many religions, including Buddhism (for 3 years) before embracing Islam. Whilst in Britain his father got a job in 1976 working for Barclays Bank International and was subsequently sent to Cairo, Egypt, to set up a branch of the Bank there. His study of the Noble Qur'an immediately attracted him to Islam and he embraced Islam in 1988. He has been a Daw'ah practitioner in Britain since then. Green now works in the London Central Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre as the Visits and English Dawa Co-ordinator. Green ... Conver(t)sations: the unheard stories of muslim converts w/ suhaib webb, khalid latif & others

This panel was a part of 2nd Annual ICNYU Conference held during the first weekend of February at New York University. Panelists included Suhaib Webb, Raymond Brock Murray, Lisa Shah, Will Caldwell, Musa Bryant, Megan Putney, Whitney Terrill, Lisa Shah, Peter Casey, Cyrus McGoldrick , Jay Dabhi and the discussion was facilitated by Khalid Latif. Usually when the convert experience is discussed in a Muslim community, the discussion focuses on why the individual converted. Although there is a great benefit in hearing these stories, the discussion never deepens into issues a convert faces after converting. This panel discusses the real experiences that converts face in dealing with the Muslim community after converting as well as issues with family, relationship, education, and many other topics. ICNYU started the Conver(t)sations program this past January. This program aims to establish an entry point into the community for those who have converted or reverted to Islam. It can be hard for many of us to fit in and find a comfortable place in the Muslim community, and those who are converts are no exception to this. (marriage) - Shiekh Said rageah Shaykh Said Rageah was born in Somalia and raised in Saudi Arabia, Shaykh Said earned his BA in Islamic Studies and Masters in Shari'ah from the Institute of Islamic and Arabic Sciences in Fairfax, Virginia. He studied under prominent Scholars like Shaykh Abdul Aziz Al Fowzan, Shaykh Yusuf Ashubaily, Shaykh AlKhudair, Shaykh Rashid Aladawni and Shaykh Fahad al Alhaoud. Before moving to Canada, Shaykh Said founded and served as Imaam of Masjid Aya in Maryland and established 'IQ' Qur'an Institute.
