How he speaks and teaches the pratical applications of Buddhism is what really brought me to this profound religion, a "religion" which I had earlier thought of as foreign and supersticious. Bhante Henepola Gunaratana is the founding abbot of the Bhavana Society. Born in rural Sri Lanka, he has been a monk since age 12 and took full ordination at age 20 in 1947. Buddhist money mantra (108 times)

The most accurate Sanskrit form of this Buddhist money mantra is OM VASUDHARE SVAHA (pronounced as OM WA SU DHA REI SWA HA). On several occasions, the All-Compassionate Buddha shared with us practices that will enhance our wealth, so that His students may pursue their spiritual goals with less physical distraction. One of the wealth deities introduced by the Buddha is the bodhisattva, Vasudhara. Vasudhara, whose name means 'stream of treasure' in Sanskrit, is mentioned in the Mahayana sutra, the Vasudhara Dharani (also known as the Inquiry of the Layman Sucandra). In recent years, 2 well-respected Chinese Mahayana monks, Venerable Hui Lyu (慧律) and Venerable Hai Tao (海涛) have propagated the Vasudhara Dharani and taught the money mantra in it. In Tibetan Buddhism, Vasudhara (known as Norgyun or Norgyunma in Tibet) is regarded as a primary 'Wealth Deity'. The Kagyu, Sakya, and Gelug schools include Vasudhara in their spiritual practices and perform Vasudhara-related pujas mainly for lay believers. Vasudhara's popularity, however, peaks in Nepal where she has a strong following among the Newars of the Kathmandu Valley, and is thus a central figure in Newar Buddhism. She is given the name Shiskar Apa in the Indian districts of Lahul and Spiti. For this mantra to be effective, you should: 1. Recite this mantra 800 times the first time 2. Recite it 3 times a day, once in the morning, once in the afternoon and once at night, 108 times each thereafter 3. Maintain a pure mind ... Photo homage to our precious tsawey lama, His Holiness Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche, who entered thugdam on Friday March 27, 2009 in Namdroling Monastery, Bylakuppe, India. Kyabjé Drubwang Pema Norbu Rinpoche was born in 1932 in the Powo region of Kham, Eastern Tibet. His Holiness settled in South India where he built, from his own hands and with the help of a few monks, the Palyul Namdroling Monastery. The monastery has grown into one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist Dharma centers in the world, housing over 6000 monks and nuns in the complex, which also includes a hospital, and hospice. Manjusri bodhisattva - wisdom

Manjusri Bodhisattva is a Great Bodhisattva that represents great Wisdom. He is the Bodhisattva that destroy all ignorance. Manjusri Bodhisattva represents the Enlightenment experience by using the path of wisdom. He is usually paired up with Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, and Shakyamuni Buddha, to which he was a disciple of in Mahayana Sutras. The title of Manjusri Bodhisattva usually was evoked by many great master before they study and organize Sutras. The Mantra of Manjusri Bodhisattva: Om A Ra Pa Cha Na Dhih These are most likely seeds Syllables, especially the "Dhih". By reciting this mantra, one will be able to improve her/his memory, ability in speech and debate, wisdom, and destroying ignorance. Vipassana meditation short intro

A short video from www.dhamma.org about the observation of breath and bodily sensations in the technique of vipassana meditation. The entire practice is actually a mental training. Just as we use physical exercises to improve our bodily health, Vipassana can be used to develop a healthy mind. Because it has been found to be genuinely helpful, great emphasis is put on preserving the technique in its original, authentic form. It is not taught commercially, but instead is offered freely. No person involved in its teaching receives any material remuneration. There are no charges for the courses - not even to cover the cost of food and accommodation. All expenses are met by donations from people who, having completed a course and experienced the benefits of Vipassana, wish to give others the opportunity to benefit from it also. Of course, the results come gradually through continued practice. It is unrealistic to expect all problems to be solved in ten days. Within that time, however, the essentials of Vipassana can be learned so that it can be applied in daily life. The more the technique is practiced, the greater the freedom from misery, and the closer the approach to the ultimate goal of full liberation.
