The sign reads, "As an insurance measure due in part to a recent string of robberies, African-American customers are now required to pay an additional fee of $1.50 per transaction." McDonald's tweeted back saying, "That Seriously McDonalds picture is a hoax," and responded to irate Tweeps who believed the prank with the tweet: "A senseless & ignorant hoax. We value all customers. Diversity runs deep in our culture - on both sides of the counter." TechCrunch elaborated on the incident by pointing out that McDonald's was a victim of 'churnalism' or 'hamsterization' journalism, where stories are reposted in the absence of verifying facts ...

African american singer jill scott doesn't like interracial dating

Jill Scott has reportedly said that her "soul burns" every time she see a "successful black man with a white woman". In an interview with Essence magazine, the R&B-soul singer-songwriter said that she wished that a male, African-American friend was married to a black, rather than a Caucasian, woman. Scott wrote: "My new friend is handsome, African-American, intelligent and seemingly wealthy. He is an athlete, loves his momma, and is happily married to a white woman. I admit when I saw his wedding ring, I privately hoped. But something in me just knew he didn't marry a sister. Although my guess hit the mark, when my friend told me his wife was indeed Caucasian, I felt my spirit wince. I didn't immediately understand it. My face read happy for you. My body showed no reaction to my inner pinch, but the sting was there, quiet like a mosquito under a summer dress." She continued: "Was I jealous? Did the reality of his relationship somehow diminish his soul's credibility? The answer is not simple. One could easily dispel the wince as racist or separatist, but that's not how I was brought up. I was reared in a Jehovah's Witness household. I was taught that every man should be judged by his deeds and not his color and I firmly stand where my grandmother left me. Canadians of african origin seek equality

Canada's oldest black community, based in the eastern province of Nova Scotia, are commemorating the country's black civil rights pioneers. Hundreds of people of African heritage, who lived in the area, were moved out to make way for a new bridge in the 1960s. Eve carson, unc student, asked her african american killers to pray with her, witness says

A witness testifying in the murder trial of Laurence Alvin Lovette Jr. has made a startling claim about the victim's last moments. Raleigh local station WRAL reports that Jayson McNeil testified Lovette told him that University of North Carolina student Eve Carson asked him to pray with her before she was murdered. "Before (Lovette) even shot her, he explained, she was saying, 'Let's pray,'" McNeil said, according to WRAL. "She wanted them to pray together." In March 2008, prosecutors say that Lovette and Demario Atwater kidnapped Carson, drove her to various ATMs to withdraw money and then shot her five times, killing the former student body president, according to WRAL. Atwater pleaded guilty last year to crimes connected to the killing and is currently serving two life sentences. ABC reports that Carson's body was found in the middle of a Chapel Hill street the same day she was murdered. www.huffingtonpost.com
