Breath for peace (breath for peace ～平和への息づかい～ライブ＆トーク)

原曲は「コルトナ・ラウダ37番」という聖歌。コルトナ・ラウダは、13世紀ごろイタリアのコルトナという街で聖フランシスコを慕う信徒たちの間で歌われていた、と伝えられる祈りの歌です。フランシスコは裕福な織物商の家に生まれ、放蕩生活を送った後、騎士になろうと軍隊に入隊。しかし捕虜になり、重い熱病の中で宗教的回心に目覚めます。以降、徹底した清貧を志し、「神よ、私をあなたの平和のために用いてください･･･」という"平和の祈り"を捧げました。そのフランシスコを讃えたこの曲を、井上鑑さんの編曲によりプロジェクトのテーマ曲とし、ウェブサイトで再生しています。そして今回のライブに際し、このメロディに鈴木重子さんが平和への思いをこめた詞をつけたのが、この歌、「Breath for Peace」です。『このメロディ、どこかで聞いたことがある』と思った方も多いでしょう。コルトナ37番は映画「ブラザーサン・シスタームーン」の主題歌の原曲でもあります。 ■なんとかしなきゃ！プロジェクト nantokashinakya.jp 開発途上国は多くの課題を抱えています。それを一人でも多くの方に知ってもらい、その解決をめざす国際協力の必要性を社会全体で共有して行きたい。‐そんな思いを共有する人、団体などで進めるのが「なんとかしなきゃ！プロジェクト」です。国際協力に関心の高い著名人や、国際機関やNGOなど国際協力を行っているプレイヤーが、さまざまな場面やメディアで、広く情報を発信し、それを受けたひとりひとりが国際協力の重要性をしでも自分のこととして捉え、それぞれの立場でできるかたちで国際協力に参加する、そんなきっかけとなることを目指します。オフィシャルTwitterアカウントはこちら twitter.com

In 1946, in the early days of the Cold War, the Latin American Training Center -- US Ground Forces was established in the Atlantic sector of the Panama Canal Zone, in the US army base of Fort Amador. During 1949 it was expanded and became the US Army Caribbean Training Center, seated into a former hospital building on the grounds of Fort Gulick (now housing the Melia Hotel). It was once again expanded and renamed the US Army School of the Americas in 1963. It relocated to Fort Benning in 1984, following the signing of the Panama Canal Treaty. The film, commissioned by the United States Army Signal Corps, was the final entry in a John Huston trilogy of films produced at the request of the US Government. This documentary film follows 75 US soldiers who have sustained debilitating emotional trauma and depression. A series of scenes chronicle their entry into a psychiatric hospital, their treatment and eventual recovery. Some of the treatments involved then-new drugs and hypnosis, and the impression was given of miraculous cures, though the narration says that there will be continuing psychiatric care. Much of the filming was done at Edgewood State Hospital, Deer Park, Long Island, New York which between 1944 and 1946 was part of Mason General Hospital, a psychiatric hospital run by the United States War Department named for an Army doctor and general. The film was controversial in its portrayal of shell-shocked soldiers from the war. "Twenty percent of our army casualties", the narrator says, "suffered psychoneurotic symptoms: a sense of impending disaster, hopelessness, fear, and isolation." The show was produced by Family Theater Productions, a film and radio studio extension of the Family Rosary Crusade founded by the Holy Cross Priest, Father Patrick Peyton, CSC, as a way to promote family prayer. The motto of the these Holy Cross Family Ministries is, "The family that prays together, stays together." The program had no commercial sponsor, yet Father Peyton, CSC arranged for many of Hollywood's stars in film and radio at the time to appear. In its ten-year run, well-known actors and actresses, including James Stewart, Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Raymond Burr, Jane Wyatt, Charlton Heston, Bing Crosby, Jack Benny, Gene Kelly, William Shatner and Chuck Connors, appeared as announcers, narrators or stars.
